An Interview with Andrew Graham – Leap Property Group, LLC

by | Jul 29, 2019 | Real Estate Consultant

Q 1. Kindly give our readers an introduction to your business.

Ans: LEAP Property Group is a real estate solutions company that offers folks an alternative to selling their home, that bypasses the traditional model of listing their home with a Realtor. We genuinely want to help people that are looking to sell their property. We offer all cash, can close on their timeline, and they can take what they want and leave what they don’t. We are located in Davidson, NC and service the greater Charlotte, NC area.

Q 2. Please give us a brief description of yourself.

Ans: I began my career in real estate back in 2006. Prior to that I worked in emergency rooms across the country as a registered nurse. Many folks, including myself at times, questioned why I would leave a position as an RN to go into real estate.
To be honest, those first few years were very tough, as I was brand new to real estate during the worst recession our country has ever experienced. It would have been easy to quit and go back to Nursing, but a little voice inside of me kept telling me not to give up. There were some lean years, but then I met a girl. She had confidence in me, and encouraged me to hang in there, even when I didn’t feel like it. My real estate business began to take off, and I haven’t looked back since. As fate would have it, I was smart enough to marry this girl, or she was crazy enough to marry me. We now have two beautiful kids. Levi & Emma, a loving family, and a place we call home. I often think to myself, “you know Andy, if you would have left your career in Real Estate, and gone back to nursing, you probably would have never met your future wife, nor have the family that you do today.” Now I realize, that little voice that kept saying, “don’t give up,” was God’s voice. He knew what plans he had in store for me, plans that I could have never imagined. It’s all quite humbling. I am so thankful, and thankful that I can own a business that helps people in so many ways.

Q 3. What inspired you to start a new business venture?

Ans: I have always had an interest in real estate. My Grandfather and my Great Grandfather were entrepreneurs. My Grandfather owned a septic tank business and my Great Grandfather owned a cement block manufacturing company. They both had real estate holdings, so I kind of grew up around it. So I would say that it’s in my blood to be an entrepreneur and with my passion for real estate, it just made sense.

Q 4. What three pieces of advice would you give to budding entrepreneurs?

Ans: First I would ask them why do they want to be an entrepreneur? What is their passion? If you just want to be an entrepreneur because you want to make money, and are not passionate about what you are doing, then you will probably, at some point, just burn out. So start with your ‘why’ first. Secondly, have at least 6-12 months of cash reserves. Starting a business can take a while to build, and you will need capital to invest and to get you through until you start turning a profit. Third, set goals for what you want your business to look like in 1 year, 3 years, and even 10 years. Start with the end in mind and then just work your tail off until you reach that goal. And, don’t get discouraged. You’ll have times you want to quit. It will be hard. Don’t get caught up in being a success or a failure. These are judgements. Stay in the process, and things will eventually pay off if you are persistent.

Q 5. How many hours do you work a day on average?

Ans: 8-10

Q 6. To what do you most attribute your success?

Ans: Persistence and a very supportive wife. She’s the glue that holds me together.

Q 7. How do you go about marketing your business? What has been your most successful form of marketing?

Ans: We do a lot of online advertising, but our most successful form of marketing has been direct mail.

Q 8. Where did your organizations funding/capital come from and how did you go about getting it? How did you obtain investors for your venture?

Ans: I had some cash reserves and personal credit lines that I used initially. Then later, as I grew, I was able to secure private capital from outside investors.

Q 9. What is the best way to achieve long-term success?

Ans: I’ll have to use one of my favorite quotes, and it’s on the back of my business card as a reminder: “Nothing in this world can take the place of persistence. Talent will not: nothing is more common than unsuccessful men with talent. Genius will not; unrewarded genius is almost a proverb. Education will not: the world is full of educated derelicts. Persistence and determination alone are omnipotent” – Calvin Coolidge.

Q 10. Where you see yourself and your business in 5 – 10 years?

Ans: We see ourselves as a multi-million-dollar company with a presence in at least 3 major markets.

Q 11. Excluding yours, what company or business do you admire the most?

Ans: I would have to say Amazon. To see what they have done, and how they have changed our buying habits is truly remarkable. I hate that it has put a lot of good companies out of business, but it’s amazing how integrated Amazon has become in our daily lives.
