Q: Kindly give our readers an introduction to your business.
A: Closets Las Vegas is a family-owned custom interior solutions company based in Las Vegas, with five family members actively involved in the business. For more than 22 years we’ve designed, manufactured, and installed luxury closets, garage systems, pantries, wall beds, home offices, entertainment centers, and other custom storage solutions.
What makes us unique is that we manufacture our products locally in our Las Vegas facility, allowing us to maintain strict quality control and customize every project for each homeowner. We serve all of Southern Nevada from Pahrump to Mesquite and work with more than 14 local and national home builders, as well as hundreds of retail homeowners each year.
Over the past two decades, our team has helped design and install storage systems in thousands of homes throughout the Las Vegas Valley. We are proud three-time Best of Las Vegas Gold Award winners.
Q: Kindly give us a brief description about yourself.
A: Originally from Boston, I moved to Las Vegas in 1980, met my wonderful wife, and quickly fell in love with the opportunity the city offers entrepreneurs. Over the years I started and operated several successful home-related businesses before launching Closets Las Vegas.
What began as a custom closet company has evolved into a full interior storage and organization company serving homeowners and builders across Southern Nevada. Over the past two decades we’ve built long-standing partnerships with more than 14 local and national home builders, completing over 800 new homes per year while also serving hundreds of retail clients annually.
Today we’re known in the building industry as a reliable collaborator—easy to work with, dependable, and committed to delivering quality work without creating problems for our builder partners. Many builders consider us a strategic partner in their success.
Q: What inspired you to start your business?
A: Luxury homes offer incredible upgrades, but closets, pantries, and garages were often overlooked. I saw an opportunity to perfect those interior spaces and complete the home with solutions tailored to each client. Large chain stores dominated the market, but Las Vegas has always supported local businesses, and we built our reputation by delivering custom craftsmanship and personal service.
Q: What three pieces of advice would you give to budding entrepreneurs?
A: 1. Employees make the business. Finding the right people with integrity, work ethic, and great personalities is everything.
2. Never burn bridges with vendors. Personnel changes constantly in business, and relationships matter in the long run.
3. Clients, clients, clients. Take care of them and they will take care of your business.
Q: What are the top three skills needed to be a successful entrepreneur?
A: 1. Instinct – the ability to make decisions when the path isn’t always clear.
2. Persistence – most businesses fail because people give up too early.
3. People skills – employees, vendors, and customers ultimately determine your success.
Q: How many hours do you work a day on average?
A: All of them.
Q: To what do you most attribute your success?
A: Honesty, integrity, and relationship building… and a golf handicap of 6.
Q: How do you go about marketing your business?
A: We use a mix of social media, digital marketing, and search engine optimization with a strong SEO partner. However, our most powerful marketing has always been word of mouth. When someone visits a neighbor’s home and sees one of our projects, that often turns into our next client.
Q: Where did your organization’s funding come from?
A: My wife and I funded the company ourselves from the beginning. As the business grew, we later obtained an SBA loan through a local bank to invest in manufacturing equipment and expand our production capabilities.
Q: What is the best way to achieve long-term success?
A: Build relationships, stand behind your work, and hire the best people you can find.
Q: Where do you see yourself and your business in 5–10 years?
A: Myself – hopefully on the golf course a little more. My business – in the capable hands of the team we’ve built over the past two decades.
Q: Excluding your own, what company do you admire most?
A: Local companies that live here, manufacture here, hire local employees, and keep money circulating in the community. Businesses that give back and help Las Vegas families thrive.
Q: How important have good employees been to your success?
A: Unparalleled in importance.
Q: What motivates you?
A: The pursuit of improvement. I want our company to be known for the highest standards, unmatched quality, and putting clients first. I enjoy solving challenges, collaborating with our team, and watching an idea move from concept to CAD design to manufacturing and final installation.
Q: How do you generate new ideas?
A: Conversation, research, and the occasional sleepless night thinking through solutions.
Q: How do you define success?
A: Success is building something that lasts beyond you. When a company continues to thrive because of the strength of the team you built, that’s real success.
Q: What is your favorite aspect of being an entrepreneur?
A: The ability to build something meaningful and watch your team succeed. Seeing employees grow their careers and watching customers enjoy the spaces we create is incredibly rewarding.
Q: What has been your most satisfying moment in business?
A: Reaching the point where the company can operate successfully because of the strength of the team we built. That’s when you know you’ve created something sustainable.
Q: What kind of culture exists in your organization?
A: Our culture is built around respect, craftsmanship, and accountability. Many of our employees have been with us for years, and we treat our team like family. We focus on hiring people with strong character and work ethic because great employees create great experiences for our customers.
Q: In one word, characterize your life as an entrepreneur.
A: Rewarding.
Q: What makes you happy?
A: Knowing that professionals in the construction industry refer to us as the go-to company for the services we provide. That reputation is earned over decades of consistent work.
Q: What sacrifices have you had to make to be successful?
A: Time is the one thing you can’t get back, but I’ve loved every minute spent building this business.
Q: If you were conducting this interview, what question would you ask?
A: ‘What separates a great company from a good one?’ The answer is consistency. Anyone can do great work once, but maintaining quality and reputation for decades is what truly defines a great business.
