Answer: Rural Focus has been providing site preparation services since 2019. Based out of Placerville, CA also serving the greater El Dorado County area as well as western Nevada. We strive to provide efficient and well-organized construction methods for your project. We operate in a very adaptive manner and enjoy working with the client and professional services to conceptualize your vision in a financially responsible manner. If you are in the early stages of construction or have recently purchased raw land, we can connect you with surveying and engineering services as needed to help get your project started immediately. “We specialize in a variety of services but the 3 broad categories of our services is excavating & grading, underground utilities and tree & brush removal. “
Question: Please provide a brief description about yourself.
Answer: I was raised on an agricultural farm in Northern California, growing up in this environment allows you to develop a variety of skills and determination. In my twenties I worked for an excavation company providing site work, and then later working in the vineyard management/development industry where we removed site preparation services Shortly after my education I had the opportunity to work in the petroleum industry providing ultra-deep sea drilling monitoring services in the Gulf of Mexico and West Africa
Question: What inspired you to start this business or get into this industry? Or to make significant changes in an existing business? How did the idea for your business come about?
Answer: While working in the petroleum industry, I realized the incredible talent of individuals working in the trades, and this motivated me to start a construction company.
Question: What three pieces of advice would you give to budding entrepreneurs/business owners?
Answer: I think the first most important component to starting a business is your attitude. When starting a business, you’re entering a world of constant movement, pressure and change. Your ability to work well with others in a collaborative way will allow you to keep moving forward. The second piece of advice would be to make sure you know exactly what it is you’re trying to accomplish with your business, so you can provide the best possible service or product possible for your customers. The third piece of advice I can provide, would be to use caution in regards to how fast you grow your company.
Question: What would you say are the top three skills needed to be a successful entrepreneur/business owner?
Answer:

Question: How many hours do you work a day on average?
Answer: I work an average of 14 hrs every day.
Question: To what do you most attribute your success?
Answer: I would most attribute my success to continuous learning, and exposure to individuals with strong moral character.
Question: How do you go about marketing your business? What has been your most successful form of marketing?
Answer: Marketing is a relatively new component to business for me, but I have had great success through word of mouth and referrals.
Question: Where did your organization’s funding/capital come from? How did you go about getting it? How did you obtain investors for your venture?
Answer: I saved money for a long time while working as an employee and used these funds to start my business. Early on I did some basic advertising through Google, and this connecting me with my first customers which allowed me the start I needed.
Question: What is the best way to achieve long-term success?
Answer: I believe developing discipline is the best way to achieve long term success.
Question: Where do you see yourself and your business in 5 – 10 years?
Answer: I see myself continuing to grow the business while constantly seeking more complex projects.
Question: Excluding yours, what company or business do you admire the most?
Answer: I admire all companies that conduct themselves ethically, it takes an incredible amount of effort to provide products or services in any industry. I’m always amazed at what humans can accomplish when they decide to create something.
