Q. Kindly give our readers an introduction to your business. Please include What your business is all about, in which city you are located and if you have offices in multiple locations/ cities.

Ans : Getting a quality roof over your head as simply, painlessly, and efficiently as possible is our goal. Let us do the dirty work and keep it simple for you. With such a strong team around him, and seeing a need for a customer-focused roofing provider in Chattanooga, TN, we formed Restore Roofing to make the process of getting a new roof simple and worry-free.

Q. Kindly give us a brief description about yourself (it should include your brief educational or entrepreneurial background and list some of your major achievements).

Ans : We understand that your home is your biggest investment, which is why we have a team with 40 years of combined industry experience to complete roof work you can feel confident about.

Q. What inspired you to (start a new business venture) or (to make significant changes in an existing business)? How did the idea for your business come about?

Ans : I found my passion for roofing early on in life and have worked tirelessly to provide people with the best quality roofs.

Q. What three pieces of advice would you give to budding entrepreneurs?

Ans :

  1. Understand the Why behind why you want to start business
  2. Don’t do it alone. Make sure you have people around you that you can talk to. ideally a mentor, a peer and a cheerleader
  3. Learn as much as you can from books and podcasts.

Q. What would you say are the top three skills needed to be a successful entrepreneur?

Adaptability, persistence, and hard work are the three skills needed to be a successful entrepreneur.

Q. How many hours do you work a day on average?

Ans : When you own your own business, the work is never done. Although our work hours are 9am to 4pm, we work around the clock to grow our business and make sure it is as successful as possible.

Q. To What do you most attribute your success?

Ans : Honestly having a great work ethic and caring for my team.

Q. How do you go about marketing your business? What has been your most successful form of marketing?

Ans : We work with an amazing team of marketing professionals that have developed our website and manage our marketing strategies.

Q. Where did your organizations funding/capital come from and How did you go about getting it? How did you obtain investors for your venture? We started out with nothing and slowly grew. Be very careful about running out there and maxing out a credit card or borrowing money to make your dream work.

Q. What is the best way to achieve long-term success?

Ans : Know What that is for you and be willing to take the next right step each and every day.

Q. Where you see yourself and your business in 5 – 10 years?

Ans : Our goal is to triple our size over the next five years.

Q. Excluding yours, What company or business do you admire the most?

Ans : There are so many great companies out there that it is hard to say. Business Builders is one of them and I say that because they hold a lot of the same values as we do. We may do different things but we both work for a bigger purpose outside of money and our own success.

Q. How important have good employees been to your success?

Ans : They are everything. You will hit a ceiling on What you can do by yourself and if you truly want to grow you need to have a great team around you.

Q. How long do you stick with an idea before giving up?

Ans : This is a hard one. I really depends. I think you have to be honest with yourself and ask the question. Is this just hard or am I hitting my head against the wall and need to walk away.

Q. What motivates you?

Ans : The unknown and seeing What could be and How to get there.

Q. How do you generate new ideas?

That’s not hard. I have new ideas all the time. The hard part is knowing which ones to pursue. But if you have a clear mission and vision that helps a lot.

Q. How do you define success?

Ans : This goes back to your WHY. Success is doing What makes you feel alive.

Q. How do you build a successful customer base?

Ans : By serving them well and communicate and communicate.

Q. What is your favorite aspect of being an entrepreneur?

Ans : Starting new things and thinking outside the box. I have a hard time sticking with things

Q. What has been your most satisfying moment in business?

Ans : When I had a team member work with me for 2 years and during that time he learned a lot and was able to leave me and take a better job somewhere else. How awesome is that?

Q. What do you feel is the major difference between entrepreneurs and those who work for someone else?

Ans : Entrepreneurs like to dream about What could be and are willing to do the hard work to get there.

Q. What kind of culture exists in your organization? How did you establish this tone and why did you institute this particular type of culture?

Ans : We have a culture of service and it starts at the top. I am not here to have my team make me look good. I am here to build them up and help them live fulfilled lives.

Q. In one word, characterize your life as an entrepreneur.

Ans : Fulfilling

Q. How has being an entrepreneur affected your family life?

Ans : It has been good and bad. Good when I am living in balance and enjoying the freedom that can come with being an entrepreneur and bad when I let my work control me.

Q. How did you decide on the location for your business?

Ans : It was where I lived.

Do you believe there is some sort of pattern or formula to becoming a successful entrepreneur?

Ans : Yes, having a clear vision not only for your business but your life.

Q. What book has inspired you the most? (OR What is your favorite book?)

Ans : I have read a lot. But the ones that come to mind are Entreleadership by Dave Ramsey, Start with Why by Simon Sinek, The Ideal Team player by Parick Lencioni and Storybrand by Donald Miller

Q. What are some of the biggest mistakes you’ve made?

Ans : Not trusting my team. Thinking good communications has happened. Not following through when I know I needed to. Not having hard conversations.

Q. How can you prevent mistakes or do damage control?

Ans : I don’t think you should prevent mistakes. I think making mistakes means you are pushing forward and hopefully learning from them and not making the same one again.

Q. What are your hobbies? What do you do in your non-work time?

Ans : I love hunting and training for triathlons.
