Q: Kindly give our readers an introduction to your business. Please include what your business is all about, in which city you are located and if you have offices in multiple locations/ cities.

Ans: Shabani Dental is a General Dental practice run by Dr. Elena Shabani DDS. Our office is located in City of La Crescenta Glendale CA. We specialized not only in general dentistry but also in Implant, esthetic cases and invisalign treatment.

Q: Kindly give us a brief description about yourself (it should include your brief educational or entrepreneurial background and list some of your major achievements).

Ans: Dr. Elena Shabani is dedicated to provide conservative dental care while promoting and educating her patients the importance of oral health and its relation to general health.
Dr. Shabani obtained her DDS degree from New York University College of Dentistry. She earned her undergraduate degree from University of California Irvine and Masters in oral health from Boston University School of Medicine. Dr. Shabani now practices in Glendale CA providing conservative dental treatments for her patients. Dr. Shabani is also certified in Invisalign, Clear Correct, Implant dentistry and sleep apnea treatment. Above all Dr. Shabani is a big advocate of oral health and preventative dentistry.  Dr. Shabani continues to thrive and enhances her education by taking advance educational course to ensure her patients are receiving the best treatment.

Q: What three pieces of advice would you give to budding entrepreneurs?

Ans: Start by doing a tremendous amount of research first
Don’t be afraid to ask others for help and advice
Take every failing step into a learning experience and move forward

Q: What would you say are the top three skills needed to be a successful entrepreneur?

Ans: Punctuality, Motivation and being able to adapt

Q: How many hours do you work a day on average?

Ans: In my office I work 10 hours. I get to work earlier than my staff to do some paperwork and sometimes I stay over to organize for the next day.

Q: To what do you most attribute your success?

Ans: Consistency, I have always tried to be very consistent with what I do. Consistency develops routine and having a routine keeps you organize. Organization in any business helps to not make many mistakes and thus you can succeed

Q: How do you go about marketing your business? What has been your most successful form of marketing?

Ans: Initially I have started with friends and family. Word of mouth has been a great marketing tool for us. We also use social media such as, Google business, instagram and Facebook as a platform to introduce what we do for our community.

Q: Where did your organizations funding/capital come from and how did you go about getting it? How did you obtain investors for your venture?

Ans: After Dental School I was able to save some money by working for many dental practices. I used my savings to open my practice without taking any loans.

Q: What is the best way to achieve long-term success?

Ans: I would say in dental practice the most important key to long-term success is establishing a practice where both patients and staff are treated with respect and dignity.

Q: Where you see yourself and your business in 5 – 10 years?

Ans: I see my self-teaching at a dental school and helping other students learn and thrive. I would also like to have students rotate in my office to learn more about the business side of running a dental practice.

Q: Excluding yours, what company or business do you admire the most?

Ans: I really admire the family run business, small moms and pops shops but I also admire big companies like Apple, Google and Amazon and how they have revolutionized in technology.

Q: How important have good employees been to your success?

Ans: It is extremely important to have loyal employees but that comes from the owner/boss/management itself. We have to treat our employees well because they are the center of our success in any business.

Q: How long do you stick with an idea before giving up?

Ans: It depends on the idea

Q: What motivates you?

Ans: My husband is my greatest motivation, by watching him everyday seeing what he does for our family and for his businesses makes me stay motivated

Q: How do you generate new ideas?

Ans: Sometimes ideas just pops in my head but most of the time a lot of the new ideas come from socializing with others or traveling around the world. You get to see and meet so many different people and that helps open up your mind set and way of life.

Q: How do you build a successful customer base?

Ans: Respect, trust, loyalty.

Q: What has been your most satisfying moment in business?

Ans: Being able to employ staff and give them jobs where they can provide for their families.

Q: What do you feel is the major difference between entrepreneurs and those who work for someone else?

Ans: I not only have to worry and mange my business and my own financials but I also have to make sure my employees are happy and successful as well

Q: In one word, characterize your life as an entrepreneur.

Ans: Challenging

Q: How did you decide on the location for your business?

Ans: I always wanted to have my business in my hometown.

Q: Who has been your greatest inspiration?

Ans: My husband

Q: What are your hobbies? What do you do in your non-work time?

Ans: Dancing, tennis, walking with my husband in the afternoons after work, traveling around the world.

Q: What makes you happy?

Ans: Seeing my husband and my family happy makes me very happy
