Ans: JBE Diamonds Inc. is one of the largest diamond trading companies in the US. We buy and sell diamonds that are certified by the GIA and many other organizations. We do most of our trading online, so you can buy from anywhere in the US at anytime. We have been in the business of buying and selling diamonds, diamond jewelry, and watches since 1975, and are experts in the field.
We have a modern office in the heart of NYC’s Diamond District.
Q2: Kindly give us a brief description about yourself (it should include your brief educational or entrepreneurial background and list some of your major achievements).
Ans: Our diamond experts have over 50 years of experience, and can evaluate the cut, clarity, weight, color and size of a diamond at a glance. We deal in pure quality, and 90% of our inventory consists of GIA Certified diamonds, a symbol of unmatched quality and finesse.
Q3: What inspired you to (start a new business venture) or (to make significant changes in an existing business)? How did the idea for your business come about?
Ans: My father was a diamond cutter in Israel. Soon enough he was able to open his own business cutting and selling wholesale diamonds. As the business continued to grow, we decided to expand from Israel to NYC. In NYC our main goal is to buy diamonds for resell.
Q4: What three pieces of advice would you give to budding entrepreneurs?
Ans: The most important piece of advice I can give any entrepreneur is to persevere. Business is not easy. You must be passionate about what you do. Its okay to fail. Its how you get back up that counts.
Q5: What would you say are the top three skills needed to be a successful entrepreneur?
Ans: You must be passionate about what you do, you must have interpersonal skills and you must be a good negotiator.
Q6: How many hours do you work a day on average?
Ans: I am always working. Whether its answering emails long after I’ve left the office or sending out offers to buy.
Q7: To what do you most attribute your success?
Ans: I attribute my success to my family, especially my father. He taught me the importance of perseverance in such a volatile business.
Q8: How do you go about marketing your business?
Ans: What has been your most successful form of marketing? My most successful form of marketing is word of mouth. This is the best. I get someone who comes in to sell a diamond and they have a great experience and they tell their friends and family. Then I’ll get a referall. It’s the oldest form of marketing, but it’s the most solid. Better yet, it doesn’t cost anything but a smile.
Q9: What is the best way to achieve long-term success?
Ans: Long term success does not happen overnight. It takes hard work and an amazing team. I am grateful to be surrounded by a team made up mostly of family. Without my team, I would not be where I am today.
Q10: Where you see yourself and your business in 5 – 10 years?
Ans: In 5- 10 years I see expansion. I see my business expanding into the retail market.
Q11: Excluding yours, what company or business do you admire the most?
Ans: I admire De Beers. I have long studied their business model. They do the diamond business the best.
