  • What inspired you to (start a new business venture) or (to make significant changes in an existing business)? How did the idea for your business come about?
  • The idea for SwiftBox Portable Storage came from recognizing how stressful and inconvenient traditional moving and storage options can be. We saw that people needed a more flexible, customer-friendly solution—More importantly, it was one that fit their schedule rather than forcing them to rush to a storage facility or feel the need to rent a truck.
  • Our mission is to combine convenience, security, and personalized service to deliver a better storage experience for people throughout Western Washington.
  • What three pieces of advice would you give to budding entrepreneurs?
  1. Be adaptable and stay resilient.
Entrepreneurship is full of unexpected challenges. Plans will change, markets will shift, and mistakes will happen. The key is to stay flexible, learn quickly, and keep moving forward. Every obstacle is an opportunity to refine your approach and improve your business. Don’t wait to make changes if something isn’t working.
  1. Prioritize customer experience from day one.
Your customers are your greatest asset. Build relationships, listen to feedback, and go above and beyond to deliver value. A strong reputation for service and reliability will carry your business further than any marketing campaign ever could.
  1. Start with a real problem, not just an idea.
The best businesses are built around solving genuine pain points. Listen to what people struggle with and design your product or service to make their lives easier. When you focus on solving a real need, growth and success follow naturally.
  • What would you say are the top three skills needed to be a successful entrepreneur?
  • Patience, more patience and capital.
  • How many hours do you work a day on average?
  • If you count worrying as work, 24hrs. Kidding.
  • To what do you most attribute to your success?
  • Understanding you can’t do it all on your own, a great team and support structure helps. Find good partners that want to see your business succeed as much as their own. Don’t be afraid to ask questions of people in your same line of work.
  • How do you go about marketing your business? What has been your most successful form of marketing?
  • There are three avenues
  • Direct– sales to customers in segments that utilize storage containers in their current business: realtors, general contractors, flooring, remodeling, remediation companies, to name a few.
  • Direct – Online PPC, community organization within the area
  • Indirect – Online, SEO, social media
  • When it comes to marketing success, there isn’t one single method that works best. Every customer finds us in a different way—some online, some through friends, and others from seeing our containers in their neighborhoods. It’s really about creating a strong local presence and delivering great service so that every interaction becomes its own form of marketing. I’m always looking for ways to connect with the community.
  • Where did your organizations funding/capital come from and how did you go about getting it? How did you obtain investors for your venture?
  • Swiftbox is not a franchise, we get asked that a lot. It was created by me with the idea of providing a unique service to compete with the big brands out there. This was funded the good old-fashioned way.
  • What is the best way to achieve long-term success?
  • Don’t get frustrated, the process won’t always go as planned
  • Be ready to change when you need to and adapt to what your market will bring.
  • Stay the course. Understand what it is that sets you apart from your competitors and stay focused on that.
  • Where you see yourself and your business in 5 – 10 years?
  • In the next 5–10 years, I see SwiftBox expanding our services and growing our footprint throughout the region. What will never change, though, is our personal touch. When you call SwiftBox, you’ll always speak with someone local who understands your needs and your community. We take pride in offering consistent, reliable service and building real connections with our customers. Our goal is to keep that hometown feel—even as we grow—so every customer continues to receive the attentive, personalized experience SwiftBox is known for.
  • Excluding yours, what company or business do you admire the most?
  • While there are great companies and business out there to follow, I really admire entrepreneurs who started with a simple idea and turned it into something lasting—people who faced challenges head-on and refused to give up. It’s the persistence that I find amazing.
  • What stands out most to me isn’t just their success, but their persistence and belief in what they were building. They pushed through setbacks, learned from failures, and kept moving forward. That determination—to stick with something you believe in and see it through—is what truly inspires me as a business owner.
