Que : Kindly give us a brief description about yourself (it should include your brief educational or entrepreneurial background and list some of your major achievements).

Ans : I’m a skilled public speaking coach, communicator, and entrepreneur with more than 25 years of business savvy. Public Speaking is one of several successful ventures I launched to help businesses of all size grow and succeed. My expertise spans the transportation and insurance industries to motivation and communication with an emphasis on sales and coaching. My sales career has achieved revenues of more than $12 million per month, and my goal is to offer creative strategies for success and ways to compete and win in the ever-changing, real-world of business.

Que : What inspired you to (start a new business venture) or (to make significant changes in an existing business)? How did the idea for your business come about?

Ans : To put it simply, I saw there was a need for the services we provide. We pride ourselves on providing effective public speaking training to our clients, and we make sure they have fun while they’re learning.

Que : What three pieces of advice would you give to budding entrepreneurs?

Ans : As someone who’s been in the trenches, I know the struggles that entrepreneurs face when they’re just starting out. The three pieces of advice I’d offer to them are: Focus on doing one thing extremely well before branching out or diversifying; recognize that every encounter is an opportunity, so be ready to pitch your business no matter where you are—and be able to do it in under a minute; and don’t take rejection personally. It happens to the best of us.

Que : What would you say are the top three skills needed to be a successful entrepreneur?

Ans : I think it goes without saying that communication skills are the Number 1 skill any successful entrepreneur needs. Regardless of your product or service, if you can’t effectively communicate with your clients or customers, you’re dead in the water. You also need to be pretty self-disciplined, which of course directly relates to motivation and the ability to be a strong leader. And though you don’t have to be a chartered accountant to run a business, I would certainly recommend having some financial knowledge in order to keep on top of your own finances.

Que : How many hours do you work a day on average?

Ans : Between all of my companies, I’d say anywhere from 10 to 12.

Que : To what do you most attribute your success?

Ans : I refuse to stand still. I’m always thinking ahead to how we can improve the services we offer and give our clients more. Public Speaking is very customer-focused, so I am constantly looking for ways to deliver more than our clients expect.

Que : How do you go about marketing your business? What has been your most successful form of marketing?

Ans : We use social media quite a bit to market ourselves. We also connect with clients through email, newsletters, and our Website. And of course, we benefit from word-of-mouth advertising, too.

Que : Where did your organizations funding/capital come from and how did you go about getting it? How did you obtain investors for your venture?

Ans : Everything started with me. I provided the capital to get started and kept investing until the business was self-sufficient.

Que : What is the best way to achieve long-term success?

Ans : Stick with it! You can’t achieve long-term success if you’re not in it for the long term. I started with a vision, and I’ve never strayed from it. I’ve built a strong team who I’ve come to depend on and respect, and together we are constantly learning and sharing knowledge in order to keep Public Speaking moving forward.

Que : Where you see yourself and your business in 5 – 10 years?

Ans : Like its parent company, Effective Presentations, my goal is to see grow to be a world leader in presentation and public skills training. I’ve had so much fun building the company and watching it grow. I know there’s so much more we can still do.

Que : Excluding yours, what company or business do you admire the most?

Ans : I admire companies like Apple that are constantly coming up with innovative ideas and new products that people want. They’re always one step ahead. I admire those companies because they don’t waste time by standing still; they’re never satisfied with the Ans : I admire companies like Apple that are constantly coming up with innovative ideas and new products that people want. They’re always one step ahead. I admire those companies because they don’t waste time by standing still; they’re never satisfied with the status quo. They’re always looking for ways to do more for their clients. And really, shouldn’t we all be doing that?
