Q 1. Kindly give our readers an introduction to your business. Please include what your business is all about, in which city you are located and if you have offices in multiple locations/ cities.
Ans : Shield Law Group is a law firm that works to provide our entire clientele base justice. We have found that there’s injustice everywhere we look and lawyers who don’t really care for their clients. We at Shield Law Group, truly care for our clients and work hard to provide justice for them.
Q 2. Kindly give us a brief description about yourself (it should include your brief educational or entrepreneurial background and list some of your major achievements).
Ans : Jerry Jaramillo was born in Hollywood, Florida, and raised in South West Miami, Florida. The son of Hispanic immigrants, Mr. Jaramillo is very proud of his Hispanic roots. Mr. Jaramillo’s father is a highly decorated veteran of the Korean conflict and an alumni of the University of Miami. Mr. Jaramillo’s mother is a graduated of the School of Business from Florida International University, and has a Master Degree in psychology from Nova Southeastern University.
Mr. Jaramillo, following in his father’s footsteps, attend the University of Miami where he graduated with a Bachelors in Arts with a major in History in 1993. He also attended the University of Miami School of Law where he attained his Juris Doctorate degree in 1996. He was admitted into the Florida Bar as practicing attorney in September of 1996. Mr. Jaramillo is also admitted to practice in the Federal Court for the Southern District of Florida as well as the Federal Court for the Middle District of Florida.
While taking the Florida Bar exam in Tampa in 1996, Mr. Jaramillo recognized the need for a fluent Spanish speaking attorney in the Tampa Bay area that could serve the Hispanic communities in Tampa. Upon his admittance into the Florida Bar, Mr. Jaramillo moved to Tampa, where he has since lived, raised a family and served the Tampa community.Mr. Jaramillo has been lead co-counsel in a number of significant cases including the second only reported case in 2002 involving HIV infection by transfusion in America following the mandatory testing of blood donors in 1999. (As reported in the July 20th, 2002 edition of the New York Times and the St. Petersburg Times published on July 19, 2002.
Mr. Jaramillo has practiced throughout his legal career in several areas of the law involving plaintiffs including, but not limited to, medical malpractice, nursing home abuse, catastrophic injury cases, motor cycle accident cases, wrongful death cases, premise liability, slip and fall accidents, dog bite cases, bad faith claims, and first party insurance claims by home owners and commercial property owners against their insurance companies including damages or claims for storm damage, fire claims, hurricane claims, water damage claims, windstorm claims, as well as sinkhole claims.
Mr. Jaramillo has been recognized and is a member of both the Million Dollar Advocate Forum as well as the Multi-Million Dollar Advocate Forum. Established in 1993, the Million Dollar Advocates Forum as well as the Multi-Million Dollar Advocates Forum is one of the most prestigious groups of trial lawyers in the United States. Membership into these prestigious organization is limited to attorneys who have won million and multi-million dollar verdicts and settlements. If fact, there are over 4000 members of the Million Dollar Advocates Forum as well as the Multi-Million Dollar Advocates throughout the country which fewer than 1% of U.S. lawyers are members.
Mr. Jaramillo served as president of the Tampa Hispanic Heritage in 2001. Mr. Jaramillo has volunteered at Metropolitan Ministries in Tampa having logged more than 180 hours of community service for this organization. Mr. Jaramillo has also volunteered at the Special Olympics in Orlando Florida. Mr. Jaramillo is proud supporter of the Tampa Police Department Benevolent Society. Mr. Jaramillo handles several dozen cases per year that are pro-bono.
Mr. Jaramillo believes that the corner stone of his success comes from his ability to speak directly with his clients. Mr. Jaramillo often visits his clients at their homes to get a better understanding of the damages involved in his clients’ cases. Mr. Jaramillo was the victim of a negligent three car rear end collision which left his vehicle totaled in 2003. In addition, Mr. Jaramillo’s own father passed away due to medical malpractice and nursing home abuse, and as such, is no stranger to the pain involved in losing a loved one due to the negligence. Mr. Jaramillo also lived in Miami when Hurricane Andrew (Category 5 Hurricane) that devastated South Florida in 1992. Likewise, Mr. Jaramillo learned very quickly the tactics used by insurance companies following Hurricane Andrew in delaying payment of insurance claims, less than adequate insurance settlement offers, and denial of rightful claims. Again, these experience have allowed Mr. Jaramillo to get a better understanding of the problems, concerns and frustrations that many of his clients live through following a tragic event.
Mr. Jaramillo is happily married to his best friend and partner, Gisela Jaramillo whom works with Mr. Jaramillo at his law practice. In addition, Mr. Jaramillo is the proud father of five children two of which are respectively graduating from the University of South Florida as well as Florida State University. Mr. Jaramillo is an avid scuba diver having received his first certification for open water at the age of 13. , and has five children. Mr. Jaramillo has logged over a 150 dives over the course of his scuba diving adventures. Mr. Jaramillo enjoys a variety of sports including deep sea fishing having participated in 2014 in the Bisbee Fishing Tournament in Cabo San Lucas, Mexico as well as being an avid ATV rider.
Q 3. What inspired you to (start a new business venture) or (to make significant changes in an existing business)? How did the idea for your business come about?
Ans : When I was a young boy, around 13 years old, I saw first hand my family get taken advantage of by a contractor. My family couldn’t do anything and there was injustice. Since that point, I promised my self that I would be a lawyer who was trustworthy and worked for justice. I like to credit a lot of my success to the ability to think outside of the box.

Q 5. What would you say are the top three skills needed to be a successful entrepreneur?
Ans :
1. Creativity
2. A since of knowing when change is necessary
3. Finances. Be frugal in your spending habits. Save for the rainy days.

Ans : 12 hours
Q 7. To what do you most attribute your success?
Ans : The ability to think outside of the box and having the passion to seek justice for all of my clients
Q 8. How do you go about marketing your business? What has been your most successful form of marketing?
Ans : The best form of marketing that I have found is providing personal services to my potential clients. Most of the time, I will visit my clients at their personal home to help discuss their choices.
Q 9. Where did your organizations funding/capital come from and how did you go about getting it? How did you obtain investors for your venture?
Ans : I worked for another law firm for sometime and saved money to start my own practice through my own savings.
Q 10. What is the best way to achieve long-term success?
Ans : Never get to confortable. Always look to innovate and work to benefit your client. Always care.
Q 11. Where you see yourself and your business in 5 – 10 years?
Ans : I would like to see a Shield Law Group office out in Texas working to bring justice to the local community.
Q 12. Excluding yours, what company or business do you admire the most?
Ans : I would have to say digital, which is a new relationship I have built, but their business pushes other businesses to re-innovate themselves in order to stay ahead of the game.
