2 – Q) Kindly give us a brief description of yourself (it should include your brief educational or entrepreneurial background and list some of your major achievements).
A) Well, I was born in Trinidad and educated at South Bank University in London, England, with a degree in Exercise Physiology. My fitness passion began when I was quite young. I found refuge in the gym. My personal training career has enabled me to work with professionals, celebrities, artists, and athletes. Over the years, I have developed an individualized approach to training, and it is my greatest joy when my clients experience a profound transformation in their lives. When I am not training, I am a product developer, creating new products in the fitness realm. I presently have 2 patents and am working on 2 more while simultaneously working on leasing those products to corporations for development.
3 – Q) What inspired you to (start a new business venture) or (to make significant changes in an existing business)? How did the idea for your business come about?
A) I’ve always believed that fitness is about more than just how you look — it’s about how you feel, how you show up in your life, and the confidence that comes with taking care of yourself. What inspired me to start my business was the strong desire to make a real difference in the lives of people who cross my path.
I saw so many individuals struggling not just with their physical health, but also with their mindset, motivation, and sustainability. I wanted to create something that wasn’t just another workout program, but a supportive space where people feel empowered, seen, and capable of lasting change.
The idea really came to life as I worked with clients and began to see the emotional impact that fitness could have — not just weight loss or muscle gain, but genuine transformations in confidence, energy, and overall quality of life. That’s what drives me every day: knowing that I can play a part in helping someone feel stronger, inside and out.
4 – Q) What three pieces of advice would you give to budding entrepreneurs?
A) Keep your word, or better yet, have a relationship with your WORD.
Choose a niche and sell it, as if your life depends on it.
Master client experience and retention, getting clients is only half the battle — keeping them is where you make sustainable benefits. Onboarding matters: it is essential to make new clients feel supported and understood from the very beginning. Track their progress and set measurable goals (photos, body metrics, strength benchmarks) to show real-time improvement. Also, check in regularly: Beyond training sessions, follow up with texts or phone calls to show you care. A happy client is a loyal client — and your best marketer.
5 – Q) What would you say are the top three skills needed to be a successful entrepreneur?
A) 1. Communication
2. Problem-Solving and Critical Thinking
3. Resilience and Adaptability
6 – Q) How many hours do you work a day on average?
A) On average, I work about 14-16 hours daily.
7 – Q) To what do you most attribute your success?
A) My success as a personal trainer is attributed to my relentless communication and accountability skills. People do not just need a workout plan — they need a system that keeps them engaged. I’d make it a point to check in regularly, adapt to their feedback, and hold them accountable without making them feel judged. That communication is what turns a client into a lifelong advocate. I will also say empathy and consistency are immensely important.
8 – Q) How do you go about marketing your business? What has been your most successful form of marketing?
A) Marketing my personal training business effectively requires a mix of relationship-building, trust, and strategic visibility, both online and offline. Word of mouth still goes a long way. I offer generous referral incentives to clients who refer their friends, etc.
9 – Q) Where did your organization’s funding/capital come from, and how did you go about getting it? How did you obtain investors for your venture?
A) Great question… I am never comfortable discussing this. But I relied solely on my personal savings. That allowed me to retain 100% of my company.
10 – Q) What is the best way to achieve long-term success?
A) Achieving long-term success as a personal trainer requires a strategic combination of skill sets, e.g. the ability to listen for what makes a difference in the lives of the people I am working with. Being my word, communicating clearly and efficiently.
11 – Q) Where do you see yourself and your business in 5 – 10 years?
A) Great question, “In 5 to 10 years, I see myself as a leader in the fitness industry, running a hybrid business that combines in-person training with a strong online presence. I want to expand beyond one-on-one sessions to include online programs, group coaching, and potentially license a few of my fitness products to market.
My goal is to have a small team of like-minded trainers under my brand, all sharing the same client-first values. Most importantly, I want to build a reputation for creating real, lasting transformations, not just physically, but in people’s confidence and lifestyle.”
12 – Q) Excluding yours, what company or business do you admire the most?
A) A company that I admire most is Apple, for its innovation, adaptability, and long-term strategy.
They are relentless and focus on design and user experience. Apple has maintained a consistent design language across its ecosystem. Its products are often not the first to market but end up defining the category. Their integration of hardware and software creates a smooth user experience that keeps customers loyal for years.
Their brand loyalty and ecosystem lock-in have created a suite of services and devices that work so well together that customers often hesitate to leave the ecosystem. This ecosystem generates recurring revenue (from subscriptions, services, etc.), reducing reliance on one-time hardware sales. They are disciplined and innovative, choosing to refine their products over following trends and often releasing better versions of existing ideas, e.g., Face ID, M1 chips, or the Apple Watch.
