Q. Please give us a brief description about yourself.
Ans: Grew up on a small farm and always had to work for what I wanted. Have continued ever since that if I really wanted to accomplish something, I would have to work to get and overcome the barriers to getting there. The multiple skills I learned as a youth have helped in all my employment environments and in my personal life. It may have taken years to know what I do best, but when that light bulb comes on, a lot of good things can happen.
Q. How did you initially become involved in your industry?
Ans: I was employed as a Director at a technical school in the Continuing Education department. The need arose for a student registration system and I built one on my own time and let the school use it. Later, I started to make it available for lease to other educational organizations and the business took off.
Q. What three pieces of advice would you give to young business owners?
Ans: Never give up; there is always a solution or an alternative.
It is never too late to start.
Don’t let the naysayers hold you back; If your idea has a demand, make it work.
Q. What would you say are the top three skills needed to be a successful at your position?
Ans: Organization skills.
Look ahead; Hone your research skills and practice being an oracle.
Always strive to improve your communication skills (oral, written, etc)
