Question: Kindly give our readers an introduction to your business. Please include what your business is all about, in which city you are located and if you have offices in multiple locations/ cities.
Answer: Fischer Van Lines is a professional moving and storage company based in Denver, Colorado. We’ve been proudly serving the Denver metro area and the entire state of Colorado for over 20 years. Our business specializes in both local and long-distance moving services, including residential moves, commercial relocations, packing services, storage solutions, and specialty item moving such as pianos, antiques, and pool tables. What sets us apart is our dedication to exceptional customer service, highly trained crews, and our fleet of professionally maintained and fully equipped moving trucks. Though we’re headquartered in Denver, our team handles moves throughout Colorado and beyond. We may not have multiple physical office locations, but we do offer statewide and long-haul services, allowing us to meet our clients’ needs no matter where they’re located.
Question: Kindly give us a brief description about yourself (it should include your brief educational or entrepreneurial background and list some of your major achievements).
Answer: My name is Jeff Fischer, and I’m the founder of Fischer Van Lines. I’ve always had an entrepreneurial spirit, and after gaining early hands-on experience in the moving industry, I saw an opportunity to do things better—by building a company focused on Family Legacy, professionalism, principles, and customer service. Over the past 20 years, I’ve grown Fischer Van Lines into one of the top-rated moving companies in Denver. We’ve earned hundreds of 5-star reviews across platforms like Google, Yelp, and the BBB. I take pride in building a team that values hard work, honesty, and customer satisfaction. One of my proudest achievements is growing the business into a well-known local brand, complete with a fleet of professionally wrapped trucks and a loyal base of repeat customers. It’s been a journey of persistence and passion, and I’m proud to still be hands-on in the business to this day.
Question: What inspired you to (start a new business venture) or (to make significant changes in an existing business)? How did the idea for your business come about?
Answer: I had been in the industry off and on for 14 years, except for time I spent in the US Navy. I was looking to settle down with a woman I fell in love with and start a family. I wanted to be able to support them and I felt a spiritual inspiration to start Fischer Van Lines also. That is why it says God Moves In Mysterious Ways on the front of my trucks.
Question: What three pieces of advice would you give to budding entrepreneurs?
Answer:
-
1. Stay relentless and adaptable.
There will be setbacks—some big, some small—but the ability to adapt, pivot, and push forward is what separates those who make it from those who don’t. Challenges are part of the journey; resilience is your most important skill.
-
2. Build your business around service, not just profit.
Customers remember how you made them feel. If you go the extra mile and genuinely care about delivering value, your business will grow—word-of-mouth is still king. Reputation is everything, especially in service-based industries.
-
3. Know your numbers.
It’s easy to get caught up in the hustle, but don’t ignore the financial side. Understand your margins, your cash flow, and your costs. A business that looks busy can still fail if it’s not profitable. Invest in good accounting early on—it pays off.
Question: What would you say are the top three skills needed to be a successful entrepreneur?
Answer:

1. Leadership.
