Kindly give our readers an introduction to your business. Please include what your business is all about, in which city you are located and if you have offices in multiple locations/ cities.

Metro Movers was founded by two childhood friends with a simple goal to bring professional moving at an affordable rate to the Minneapolis Saint Paul area and beyond. Currently our HQ is located in New Hope, MN, however we happily service anywhere in the contiguous 48 states. We’ve been able to deliver very competitively priced white glove service for almost 4 years now. We are thrilled at the response the community has had and are eagerly looking forward to being able to assist more families in the future.

Kindly give our readers an introduction to your business. Please include what your business is all about, in which city you are located and if you have offices in multiple locations/ cities.

I’m a dedicated entrepreneur based in Minneapolis with a strong focus on service excellence and sustainable growth. I hold a degree in business marketing and have always been passionate about building something of my own. In 2021, I founded Metro Movers with a mission to bring

professionalism and reliability to the moving industry. What started as a small operation is growing into a thriving company, earning a solid reputation throughout the Twin Cities. My approach to business is rooted in hard work, strategic planning, and treating every customer interaction as an

opportunity to build long-term trust. I take pride in leading a team that shares these values and continues to exceed expectations.

What inspired you to (start a new business venture) or (to make significant changes in an existing business)?

Starting a new business venture is often about recognizing an

opportunity and having the drive to pursue it. For me, it was a combination of seeing a real need in the market(being told by lots of friends/relative’s poor moving experiences), wanting to build something of my own, and the challenge of creating something that could have a

lasting impact. Entrepreneurship is about more than just making money—it’s about

problem-solving, innovation, and providing value. I was inspired by the idea that I could offer a service that makes people’s lives easier while also building something meaningful for myself and my community. At the end of the day, it’s about taking control of your future and having the courage to turn ideas into reality.

How did the idea for your business come about?

The idea for Metro Movers came from a combination of personal experience and a gap we noticed in the moving industry. Since both owners have helped friends and family with moves over the years, we saw first hand the

great potential for stress and disorganization to occur. Many moving companies lacked communication, professionalism and attention to detail which leaves clients frustrated. We realized that there was an opportunity to create a company that would not only provide high-quality moving services but also prioritize the customer.

What three pieces of advice would you give to budding entrepreneurs?

  1. Start before you feel ready – Too many people wait for the “perfect” time to start a business, but that moment rarely comes. Start with what you have, learn as you go, and refine along the way. Progress beats perfection every time. There is no better time than the present.
  1. Find a real problem/issue that you can solve – The most successful businesses aren’t just about making money; they provide real value. Focus on solving a problem that people care about, and customers will naturally follow.
  2. Be adaptable – No business journey goes exactly as planned. Be open to feedback, pivot when necessary, and never let setbacks discourage you. The ability to adapt is what

separates those who succeed from those who give up.

What would you say are the top three skills needed to be a successful entrepreneur?

There is no shortage of skills required to be a successful entrepreneur, and as I am still learning this

list may not be complete; but at this point in my entrepreneurship I would say 3 skills required to be successful are:

  1. Problem-Solving & Adaptability – Entrepreneurs constantly face challenges, from unexpected market shifts to operational hiccups. The ability to think critically, pivot when necessary, and find creative solutions is crucial.
  1. Sales & Communication – Whether pitching to investors, selling to customers, or motivating a team, strong communication skills are vital. You need to be persuasive, clear, and able to build relationships that drive business growth.
  1. Financial Management – Understanding cash flow, budgeting, and profitability is key to sustaining a business. Even if you hire an accountant, you should grasp financial fundamentals to make informed decisions.

How many hours do you work a day on average?

As entrepreneurs, our work schedule

doesn’t fit the traditional 9-5 model. On average, we work 10 to 12 hours per day, but that can vary depending on the season, business demands and growth initiatives. During the busy season, long hours spent coordinating logistics, managing crews and ensuring smooth

operations are spent. Outside of direct business management, time also needs to be allotted for marketing, strategic planning and exploring various opportunities.

To what do you most attribute your success?

A very important, if not the most important,

factor to the success of Metro Movers is implementing our customer-first mindset. We make sure that every move is handled with professionalism, efficiency and care. Positive

word-of-mouth amongst clients and impeccable Google reviews have been a major factor in creating repeat clients.

How do you go about marketing your business? What has been your most successful form ofmarketing?

We have explored many different avenues for marketing, ranging from handing out folders and marketing material from business to business, to paying for digital ad spots on various mediums, to word of mouth and even as far as donating our time to worthy

charities. So far, our most successful form of marketing has been word of mouth. It really is tough to compete with a type of marketing that has a whole neighborhood talking amongst themselves about what a great job their moving team did.

Where did your organizations funding/capital come from and how did you go about getting it? How did you obtain investors for your venture?

We’re a start-up company and the funds came from personal loans that both the owners took out. We currently don’t have any investors.

What is the best way to achieve long-term success?

Long-term success is built on consistency, adaptability, and a clear vision. In my experience with Metro Movers, we’ve grown steadily by focusing on delivering exceptional service every single time, no matter the size of the job. Early on, I realized that treating people right — both customers and team members — creates lasting relationships that fuel growth. We’ve stayed committed to learning, evolving, and always doing business with integrity. Success isn’t

about one big moment; it’s about showing up, improving, and sticking to your values day after day and year after year.

Where do you see yourself and your business in 5 – 10 years?

Over the next 5-10 years, I envision Metro Movers growing into a leading name in the moving industry, expanding

beyond our current one location and into new markets in other high-growth cities. Our goal is

to scale effectively while maintaining the high standards and customer-first service that have gotten us to this point.

Excluding yours, what company or business do you admire the most?

On a large scale, one company we admire is Amazon. While their business model is very different from ours, Amazon has a relentless focus on customer experience, innovation and scalability – which is something we are attempting to emulate.

What motivates you?

What motivates me is knowing that we are able to help people in our community avoid the copious amount of stress associated with a bad move/ hiring the

wrong movers. When we are able to deliver above expectation on a move it is nothing short of heart warming to see the fruits of our labor paying off in the form of a very satisfied client.

How do you define success?

Within the context of Metro Movers, success is

achieved/defined by creating a company culture where our team members can thrive,

customers return and our brand is associated with reliability and professionalism. Long-term success can be defined/achieved by scaling Metro Movers to more locations while

upholding the same degree of quality and integrity that has gotten us this far.

What is your favorite aspect of being an entrepreneur?

Entrepreneurship gives me the ability to stay sharp from various challenges. Overcoming these challenges can be incredibly

fulfilling and the process of always evolving is something I thrive on. Most importantly, my favorite aspect of being an entrepreneur is that, ‘eat what you kill.’ – there’s no ceiling, just opportunities to build something meaningful.

What do you feel is the major difference between entrepreneurs and those who work for someone else?

The main difference between entrepreneurs and employees is ownership of risk and reward. While there is no right answer for what path an individual should follow, it’s worth noting that there is significant risk involved in any entrepreneurial venture; and while some ventures can be rewarding, not all ventures will reward equally. Going the path of employment has more security than entrepreneurship. Neither path is better, it just depends on the person, their goals and risk tolerance. Different people will thrive in different roles.

In one word, characterize your life as an entrepreneur.

Limitless

How has being an entrepreneur affected your family life?

Choosing this path has put quite a bit of strain on relationships with significant others and family. Thankfully the people in my life are very supportive of this career choice and the time demands it has on me.

What is your greatest fear, and how do you manage fear?

My greatest fear is stagnating, whether we hit a growth plateau, fail to innovate or lose our competitive edge. In this

cut-throat moving industry being stationary is not an option. We manage this fear by using it as a motivator rather than a barrier. Through strategic planning and calculated risk-taking we attempt to combat stagnation. Additionally, we mitigate risk through strong operational

procedures and team development. Ultimately, fear is part of growth.

What makes you happy?

What makes me happy is completing a move and knowing that our team has made a meaningful difference in our clients’ lives. Moving is a major life event and seeing the relief and satisfaction on a client’s face when everything arrives on time, safely and exactly as planned is very rewarding.
