Q 1. Kindly give our readers an introduction to your business. Please include what your business is all about, in which city you are located and if you have offices in multiple locations/ cities.
Ans: Horizon Home Cleaning is a home cleaning service who’s goal is to WOW you every time. We pride ourselves in being easy to communicate with and consistently providing good service. We do not upsell or having hidden prices; what you pay for is clearly presented to you when booking your cleaning. We have the best cleaners working in the field for us who we consider family. They are compensated well and treated as equal contributors to our company. We are constantly trying new things and learning to have the most effective and safest methods of cleaning. We are punctual with our time and yours and overall provide a quality service.
Q 2. Kindly give us a brief description about yourself (it should include your brief educational or entrepreneurial background and list some of your major achievements).
Ans: Originally from Raleigh, North Carolina. I was brought to the Philadelphia area during my stint as a flight attendant. I enjoy the area so I decided to stay. It’s been 3 years here for me!
Q 3. What inspired you to (start a new business venture) or (to make significant changes in an existing business)? How did the idea for your business come about?
Ans: When trying to find home cleaning services for myself, it was extremely difficult! Local companies were not getting back to me in a timely fashion, they wanted to schedule an estimate first (my house was a wreck and I had guests coming soon, I didn’t have time to wait) and most of them had outdated websites or no website at all. This lead me to see there is a need for a modern, customer service focus based local cleaning service. If you can order a car service in 60 seconds, why can’t I do the same for a house cleaning provider?
Q 4. What three pieces of advice would you give to budding entrepreneurs?
Ans: You will feel uncomfortable-keep going!
Your hard work will never be in vain.
There is no ultimate goal to reach, you will find just being in the process is rewarding itself.
Q 5. What would you say are the top three skills needed to be a successful entrepreneur?
Ans: Organization, time conscious, ability to make decisions rather than being indecisive or constantly having to go to others for advice.
Q 6. How many hours do you work a day on average?
Ans: The days run together! I work 7 days a week so there’s no average time or hours spent doing working on one specific aspect of my life.
Q 7. To what do you most attribute your success?
Ans: Trusting myself and knowing there’s so much opportunity to be met with! Writing things down helps majorly for me also. I like to see things on paper, it gets in my head better!
Q 8. Where did your organizations funding/capital come from and how did you go about getting it? How did you obtain investors for your venture?
Ans: I’ve always worked! I have worked two jobs, a full time job and a part time job for almost 2 years.
Q 9. What is the best way to achieve long-term success?
Ans: Trying and failing. Repeat. Often and a lot.
Q 10. Where you see yourself and your business in 5 – 10 years?
Ans: In 5 years, I hope to be a top #3 home cleaning business in the Tri State area, covering Pennsylvania, New Jersey and Delaware.
Q 11. Excluding yours, what company or business do you admire the most?
Ans: Superb Maids out of Las Vegas. The owner, Elena, started with an idea and a friend and turned it into a major company in less than 2 hours. I admire her more as a person, her humility and her role as a leader to her employees, than a business owner.
