2) Kindly give us a brief description of yourself (it should include your brief educational or entrepreneurial background and list some of your major achievements).

I started as a carpenter working on yachts in seattle, ran complex multi-family construction projects, owned and operated two contracting companies before purchasing Anasazi Door and entering the retail and manufacturing world.

3) What inspired you to (start a new business venture) or (make significant changes in an existing business)? How did the idea for your business come about?

I developed a niche expertise and saw a need for better customer service and direction in the door world… when the opportunity to purchase a long-established custom door manufacturing business arose, I jumped at the chance to improve the industry regionally with goals to affect this industry on a national scale.

4) How did the idea for your business come about?

Since childhood I’ve wanted to own a custom wood shop.

5) Who has been your greatest inspiration?

My Lord and Savior Jesus Christ

6) What makes you different from other businesses in your industry?

Our expertise comes from countless hours of repairing and installing doors and hardware of all shapes, sizes, and quality. These gives us the ability to work with our clients whether contractors, designers, architects, or homeowners to take their desires and needs and effectively come up with long lasting economical solutions.

8) What do you think is the best way to achieve long-term success in business?

The key to sustained business success lies in perseverance, adaptability, and maintaining humility. Stay resilient, be open to change, and embrace a continuous learning mindset.

9) Where you see yourself and your business in 5 – 10 years?

I see Anasazi Door being a household name. A company people are excited to work with.

11) Who is your target demographic?

Homeowners, builders, architects, designers, contractors are our targeted demographic.

12) Please list 3-5 talking points about your business that you feel are most relevant to your target audience.

We are mostly offer custom door design, wholesale door supplier, trim supplier, custom millwork and finishing stains.

13) What are your overall thoughts on your industry? Any advice you could give people about your industry?

Doors are very intricate. Choosing the right raw materials and hardware are key to a successful project. Proper prior planning in regards to sizing, layout, installation, and finishing are all very important and often overlooked steps in deciding what type of door to purchase and who to hire for installation. Also keep in mind that proper staging with regards to other trades is vital for the perfect execution of a door design and installation to ensure long lasting quality.

14) Is your business involved with any charitable organizations, social causes or non-profit work?

We frequently volunteer our expertise to churches, non-profits, and other organizations that help lift society to new heights.

15) How do you give back and support your community?

We participate in charitable donations whether monetarily or volunteering time and labor or donating materials.

16) How important have good employees been to your success?

Foundational! Our team is made up of seasoned door carpenters who love what they do.

18) How do you generate new ideas?

We have daily team “huddles” where ideas are shared and discussed. We collaborate with designers and architects regularly and are constantly learning new products and procedures.

19) How do you define success?

I define success by the legacy one leaves behind.

20) How do you build a successful customer base?

We will build successful customer base by under-promising and over-delivering.

21) What is your favorite aspect of being an entrepreneur?

The ability to create endless possibilities for my family, friends, employees, and clients

22) What has been your most satisfying moment in business?

When I received the phone call asking me if I’d be interested in purchasing Anasazi Door and being told I was the only person the past owner was willing to sell too.

23) What kind of culture exists in your organization? How did you establish this tone and why did you institute this particular type of culture?

A serious yet relaxed professional environment where you can crack jokes but also work extremely hard.

24) If you had the chance to start your career over again, what would you do differently?

I’ve never thought about this question before. I guess I’d try my hand at being a Captain on a private yacht or maybe an astronaut.

25) What is your greatest fear in business, and how do you manage fear?

My greatest concern in business is the state of our national economy. To cope with this fear, I find solace by entrusting it to prayer. I firmly believe that kneeling before God provides strength to stand firm in any challenging situation.

26) How did you decide on the location for your business?
I chose Arizona because I have a deep appreciation for the state.
