  • Kindly give us a brief description about yourself (it should include your brief educational or entrepreneurial background and list some of your major achievements).

I am a 40 year fitness and health professional. Started my own aerobic studio in 1987 at 24 years old and has evolved into a reginally known expert in nutrition, fitness and health. Voted business woman of the year in 1992. Hold masters degree in psychology and bachelors in communications both from SUNYA. Voted Capital Region NY best fitness club, best fitness instructor and best personal trainer multiple years. 10 time Ironman/8 time Ultra distance runner 100 miles +

  • What inspired you to (start a new business venture) or (to make significant changes in an existing business)? How did the idea for your business come about?

The mental health and mood management aspects of fitness drove me to open my own fitness center. Helping people to change their bodies and through that change their lives to live more empowered, happily and with optimal energy and passion has driven my 40 year career.

  • What three pieces of advice would you give to budding entrepreneurs?

This is a marathon not a sprint; stay focused on your vision Have a vision and passion and follow your path with flexibility and adaptation along the way Embrace the “hard” because it will be. Hard is not bad

  • What would you say are the top three skills needed to be a successful entrepreneur?

Stamina, consistency, vision, drive, passion, energy

  • How many hours do you work a day on average?

12-14

  • To what do you most attribute your success?

My love of my chosen career path and my physcial and mental stamina and my non-negotiable attitude towards accomplishing all things necessary to succeed

  • How do you go about marketing your business? What has been your most successful form of marketing?

Mostly word of mouth referrals, local doctor referrals, targeted print ads for my 50+ women and men demographic, social media and now a marketing company

  • Where did your organizations funding/capital come from and how did you go about getting it? How did you obtain investors for your venture?

Bank loans and private savings was my seed money to start

  • What is the best way to achieve long-term success?

Never give up. Think creatively when facing a brick wall

  • Where you see yourself and your business in 5 – 10 years?

A growing virtual presence and product line supplemented with strategic hours of in person work

Servicing your clients with attention, trust, loyalty, and treating everyone with respect and viewing everyone as having their own unique and individual value as a person so they feel heard and seen in your presence

  • What is your greatest fear, and how do you manage fear?

My greatest fear is not being respected for my work. I manage that fear by insuring that I show up 100% and am continuously updating my knowledge through coursework, certifications and degrees
