A) Pacific Coast Homecare (PCH) delivers exceptional professional and compassionate personal home care services for seniors and the disabled. We understand how vitally important the stability of being in your own home is to quality of life and peace of mind. At PCH we can assist with virtually every aspect of daily living, from bathing and dressing to meal preparation and medication reminders. Our certified caregiver’s commitment is to provide the highest level of compassion and dignity for you and your loved one at home or in a facility. Because change can be difficult, it is the continuity of care that is the PCH difference.
2 Q) Kindly give us a brief description about yourself (it should include your brief educational or entrepreneurial background and list some of your major achievements).
A) I completed a degree in Marketing from BYU and then spent 16 years in the healthcare business. I owned and operated a successful home health and hospice agency, starting it from the ground up. After selling the agency I founded a consulting firm that provides custom technology solutions that address the myriad of challenges agencies face. I’m now excited to be a part owner of Pacific Coast Homecare.
3 Q) What inspired you to (start a new business venture) or (to make significant changes in an existing business)? How did the idea for your business come about?
A) A desire to bring better quality, compassionate in-home care to the elderly is what drove our desire to start a home care company. More and more seniors are choosing in-home care as a way to age in place by receiving a higher level of personal care that is surprisingly more affordable than most people realize.
4 Q) What would you say are the top three skills needed to be a successful entrepreneur?
A) Efficiency – solve problems and accomplish more in less time.
Adaptability – while change is constant, being able to adapt to changing market and industry conditions will be critical. Change or die!
Resiliency – stay focussed and determined while managing all of the challenges of starting a new business.
5 Q) How many hours do you work a day on average?
A) 8, but sometimes more when it is necessary to seize an opportunity.
6 Q) To what do you most attribute your success?
A) Great mentors who showed me success is achievable to anyone who wants it. Success doesn’t happen to extraordinary people doing ordinary things, it happens to ordinary people who find a way to do extraordinary things.
7 Q) How do you go about marketing your business? What has been your most successful form of marketing?
A) Relationships, relationships, relationships!
8 Q) Where did your organization’s funding/capital come from and how did you go about getting it? How did you obtain investors for your venture?
A) We used a funding broker who shopped and found us the best funding source. It turned out to be a SBA loan through Bank of the West.
9 Q) What is the best way to achieve long-term success?
A) Long-term success is best achieved through adaptability. Markets and conditions will change. Success will come to those who do well at adapting.
10 Q) Where do you see yourself and your business in 5 – 10 years?
A) The largest home care company on the Pacific Coast.

A) Podium – because they give a voice to the consumer.

A) Our employees are key to our success. They are the executors of the vision.

A) Ideas have to be vetted and tested before giving up.

A)The desire to provide a meaningful service that enhances and improves lives.

A) All aging individuals have a right to age with dignity and compassionate care.

A) Reading and brainstorming with mentors and mastermind groups.

A) Receiving notes from the family members of clients who passed on expressing appreciation for the quality care. One person wrote “Thank you for all the excellent and loving care you provided by mother. All went above and beyond.”
21 Q) What do you feel is the major difference between entrepreneurs and those who work for someone else?
A) Entrepreneurs have the skills and courage to take risks and pursue ideas.
22 Q) What kind of culture exists in your organization? How did you establish this tone and why did you institute this particular type of culture?
A) We are building a culture of problem solvers. Everyday is filled with new challenges. It takes the right individuals to find solutions.
