Q 1. Please give our readers an introduction to your business. Include what your business is all about, in which city you are located and if you have offices in multiple locations/ cities.
Ans: We are the North American Distributors for Fontana Forni. Fontana Forni is a company that has been making metal wood fired ovens for over 70 years and is the leading manufacturer in Italy. Fontana Forni USA is located in Florence, SC and distributes all over North America directly to customers and through a dealer network.
Q 2. Provide a brief description about yourself (it should include your brief educational or entrepreneurial background and list some of your major achievements). Our business was simply born out of our love for Italy and quality merchandise. We had no business experience or business education. We started our first business, Tuscan Imports, Inc., in 1998.
Ans: What inspired you to (start a new business venture) or (to make significant changes in an existing business)? How did the idea for your business come about? My wife is from Florence, Italy and we lived outside of Florence, Italy for almost 8 years. Having lived in Italy, we have a passion for food and all things Italian. We immediately built two brick ovens at our house upon our return. My two oldest sons were considering offering wood fired pizza with a portable oven while in college. We were already importing Italian terracotta from the Florence area and discovered Fontana while looking for a portable wood fired oven for their potential business. At the time, they were not selling in the US. We made contact with them, loved their product, saw an opportunity, and the rest is history.
