Q 1. Kindly give our readers an introduction to your business. Please include what your business is all about, in which city you are located and if you have offices in multiple locations/ cities.

Ans: That’s Clean Maids is a residential cleaning company servicing Cypress, Tomball, Spring, The Woodlands, Magnolia, and Houston.  We currently have 2 locations. Tomball and Cypress.

Q 2. Kindly give us a brief description about yourself (it should include your brief educational or entrepreneurial background and list some of your major achievements).

Ans: I started my first business at the age of 18 and since have had 2 other successful ventures.  I have over 15 years sales and management experience.  This has helped me tremendously when dealing with clients and delivering the level of service we strive for.

Q 3. What inspired you to (start a new business venture) or (to make significant changes in an existing business)? How did the idea for your business come about?

Ans: My wife Magelyn gave me the inspiration to start our company.  One of her biggest attributes is cleanliness.  I knew with her attention to detail and my management experience we could blow our customers away.

Q 4. What three pieces of advice would you give to budding entrepreneurs?

Ans: Every day is a new day. As soon as something goes incredibly wrong you have an amazing accomplishment the next day.   Keep focused and have a decisive game plan. Execution is key.

Q 5. What would you say are the top three skills needed to be a successful entrepreneur?

Ans: Drive, execution and honesty.  Do what you say you will do.

Q 6. How many hours do you work a day on average?

Ans: I’ve lost track. I usually am up working by 6 am and many nights get finished around midnight.

Q 7. To what do you most attribute your success?

Ans: My wife.  You can have the prettiest website or best idea ever, but if you do not delivery on the product or service you will fail.  She does a great job setting the expectations to our employees and constantly training to ensure we deliver results consistently to our clients.

Q 8. How do you go about marketing your business? What has been your most successful form of marketing?

Ans: Our website has been, by far , the most successful. It allows customers to book a cleaning any time of day without needing to even call.   In this day and age it should be the focus of your business.   We drive business to our site via Search engine optimization, Social media, Yelp, and Google Adwords to name a few.

Q 9. Where did your organizations funding/capital come from and how did you go about getting it? How did you obtain investors for your venture?

Ans: This is a great question.  We actually started our business with $500.  We bought supplies, used our garage a storage facility, and started working on the website.  I didn’t have to pay for the website upfront.  Just a deposit to get started and we gradually made changes along the way.  Once completed I paid in full but we already gained a handful of clients by that time.  So the website paid for itself.

Q 10. What is the best way to achieve long-term success?

Ans: Exceptional customer service.  Word of mouth is the best advertising and its 100% free.

Q 11. Where you see yourself and your business in 5 – 10 years?

Ans: I see us being a staple in our community.  If we are so lucky as to experience amazing growth so be it.  Right now we are focused on delivering a quality service to our client.  We know all monetary rewards come from customer satisfaction.  That is and will be our focus going forward.

Q 12. Excluding yours, what company or business do you admire the most?

Ans: I like Apple a ton.  If you think about what they did for the public and how they changed an industry its truly amazing.  Revolutionary comes to mind.  Great website, simple and clean, user friendly, premium quality.  These are all attributes we try to mirror as a company.

Q 13. How important have good employees been to your success?

Ans: We feel employees are the MOST important to our success even more than our customers.  Here is why, who delivers the service to our clients?  What good is having a ton of customers with no employees?  What good is paying for a cleaning and not getting what you pay for?

See, employees are our secret weapon and are the only way to ensure great service to our clients.  Who wins in the end? The customer.

Q 14. How long do you stick with an idea before giving up?

Ans: You have to evaluate your execution.  Most of the time the idea can be great but if executed wrong it fails.  Spend the time evaluating different ways to execute instead.

Q 15. What motivates you?

Ans: The ability to provide a better life for my family.

Q 16. How do you define success?

Ans: Doing what you like and doing it well equating in significant financial gains

Q 17. How do you build a successful customer base?

Ans: Marketing, marketing, marketing.  Identify your target customer and market like crazy to them.

Q 18.What do you feel is the major difference between entrepreneurs and those who work for someone else?

Ans: Mainly the drive of the individual. The desire to create something great. But lets be honest even as an entrepreneur you are working for people. As a matter of fact I would argue you have more bosses. Every client we service has expectations of us as a company the same as a boss would of an employee.
