Q 3. What inspired you to (start a new business venture) or (to make significant changes in an existing business)? How did the idea for your business come about?

Ans: As a former NFL player, I understand the importance of personalized fitness training to achieve optimal results. This inspired me to launch Fitness At Your Door, a fitness company that brings top trainers to your doorstep, no matter where you are in South Florida.

The idea for Fitness At Your Door came about from my passion for fitness and desire to help others achieve their fitness goals. I recognized the need for a personalized approach to fitness training and coaching, which led me to create a company that provides tailored solutions to each client’s unique needs and goals.

It requires creativity, resilience, and strong leadership and communication skills to navigate the challenges and opportunities of starting and growing a business.

Ans: I generally work between 8-10 hours a day on average. Being an entrepreneur and fitness coach requires me to put in a lot of effort and dedication to ensure that I am meeting the needs of my clients and growing my business. However, I also make sure to take breaks and prioritize self-care to prevent burnout and maintain a healthy work-life balance.

Q 7. To what do you most attribute your success?

Ans: As a fitness coach, I attribute my success to several key factors that have helped me to achieve my goals and inspire my clients. One of the most important factors is my passion for fitness and helping others to achieve their fitness goals. I believe that when you love what you do and are committed to helping others, success will naturally follow.

My passion for fitness, dedication to ongoing learning and professional development, strong relationships with my clients, and a positive attitude and commitment to excellence attributed to my success the most. I believe that by embodying these qualities, anyone can achieve success in the fitness industry and inspire others to live their best lives.

Q 9. Where did your organization’s funding/capital come from and how did you go about getting it? How did you obtain investors for your venture?

Ans: We haven’t got investment yet, just SBA loan. When we first started, we had limited resources, so we decided to apply for a loan from SBA. The SBA loan process was straightforward, and we were able to secure the funds we needed to get our business off the ground. As for obtaining investors, we are still in the early stages of our business and have not actively sought out investors yet. However, we plan to explore this option in the future once we have established a solid foundation and proven our concept.

Q 10. What is the best way to achieve long-term success?

Ans: From my perspective as a former NFL player turned fitness coach and entrepreneur, the best way to achieve long-term success is by setting clear goals and developing a plan to achieve them.

In order to achieve long-term success, it is important to have a vision of where you want to be in the future. Another key factor in achieving long-term success is to stay focused and committed to your goals. This means staying motivated, even when faced with challenges or setbacks, and being persistent in pursuing your goals. It is also important to continuously learn and improve, whether through further education or by seeking feedback from others.

Lastly, building strong relationships and networks is also crucial in achieving long-term success. This means surrounding yourself with supportive people who can offer guidance, advice, and opportunities for growth and development.

Q 11. Where do you see yourself and your business in 5 – 10 years?

Ans: I see my business, Fitness At Your Door, continuing to grow and expand in the next 5-10 years.

In the next 5 years, I plan to expand my services to more cities and states, providing personalized fitness training and nutrition coaching to a wider audience. I also plan to develop new and innovative programs that will help clients achieve their fitness goals in even more effective ways.

In 10 years, I envision Fitness At Your Door becoming a well-established and respected brand in the fitness industry, known for providing top-quality personalized fitness training and nutrition coaching. I also see myself and my team of trainers having a greater impact on people’s lives, helping more individuals achieve their fitness goals and improve their overall health and well-being.

Beyond just expanding the business, I believe that by staying true to our core values of personalized service, professionalism, and a commitment to improving our clients’ health and wellness, we will continue to grow and achieve even greater success in the years to come.

Q 12. Excluding yours, what company or business do you admire the most?

Ans: I want to extend my deepest gratitude to all the programs I’ve been through these past years, especially the recent ones, eMerge Americas and TechRunway for their invaluable support and contribution to the growth and success of my business, Fitness At Your Door.

I truly admire their unwavering commitment to supporting and empowering entrepreneurs. I was able to access critical resources, mentorship, and networking opportunities that have helped me take my business to new heights. The guidance and mentorship provided by eMerge Americas and TechRunway have been instrumental in helping me navigate the challenges of entrepreneurship and make strategic decisions that have propelled my business forward.

They have truly set the standard for what it means to be a true partner and ally to entrepreneurs and businesses, and their impact is felt not just in the success of my business, but in the broader community as well.

Q 13. How important have good employees been to your success?

Ans: As the founder and owner of Fitness At Your Door, I can confidently say that good employees have been absolutely critical to the success of my business. From the very beginning, I knew that I couldn’t do it all alone, and that building a strong team of dedicated, skilled professionals was essential to achieving my goals.

I believe that success in any business is a team effort, and having good employees who are invested in your mission and committed to achieving your goals is essential to achieving long-term success. I am grateful every day for the amazing team I have at Fitness At Your Door, and I know that without them, we wouldn’t be where we are today.

Q 14. How long do you stick with an idea before giving up?

Ans: As an entrepreneur and business owner, I believe that persistence is one of the key qualities that separates successful businesses from those that fail. It’s important to have a clear vision and strategy for your business, but it’s equally important to be willing to adapt and pivot when necessary.

Personally, I believe in giving an idea enough time to gain traction and gather data before making a decision on whether to pivot or move on. At the same time, I also believe in being nimble and adaptable, and not clinging to an idea or strategy that isn’t working.

Ultimately, the key is to stay focused on your goals, stay open to feedback and new information, and be willing to pivot or adapt as needed to achieve long-term success.

Q 15. What motivates you?

Ans: I am motivated by the desire to help others achieve their goals and live their best lives. I am passionate about fitness and wellness, and I believe that a healthy lifestyle can have a transformative impact on people’s physical and mental well-being. The opportunity to learn and grow as both a fitness coach and a business owner motivates me. There is always something new to learn, whether it’s the latest fitness trends or innovative marketing strategies, and I am constantly seeking out new information and ideas to improve my skills and my business.

Overall, my motivation comes from a combination of my passion for fitness and wellness, my desire to help others, and my drive to build and grow a successful business.

Q 16. What are your ideals?

Ans: My ideals center around promoting physical wellness and helping others achieve their fitness goals. I believe in creating personalized fitness plans that cater to individual needs and abilities, as well as fostering a supportive and inclusive fitness community. I also value continuous learning and growth, both personally and professionally, in order to improve my skills as a fitness coach and entrepreneur.

Q 17. How do you generate new ideas?

Ans: Few of the methods I do are brainstorming, mind mapping, following the trends, modifying existing trends, having endless queries, and lastly, using creative prompts that can help generate fresh ideas.

Q 18. How do you define success?

Ans: In my opinion, success is all about achieving what you set out to do, regardless of what that may be. It’s about setting goals and working tirelessly to achieve them. It’s about being resilient in the face of failure and never giving up. It requires hard work, dedication, and a willingness to learn from one’s mistakes.
Success is not just about the destination, but also about the journey. It’s about the experiences and lessons that we learn along the way. It’s about pushing ourselves outside of our comfort zones and taking risks. But success is also about recognizing the importance of collaboration and the value of teamwork. No one achieves success on their own. We all need help and support from others, whether it be from friends, family, colleagues, or mentors. I think it’s about finding personal fulfillment in what we do and being proud of the journey we took to get there.

Q 19. How do you build a successful customer base?

Ans: I have this thing called ‘The 5 Cs’: Customer Understanding, Clarity, Consistency, Communication, and Centricity. Of course, we have to understand our target market. We do this by conducting market research, analyzing customer behavior, and gathering feedback. We use the information gathered from those to understand their preferences. Another is, making sure that our message is crystal clear. We want to develop a preposition that communicates the benefits of our services to our beloved customers. Of course, we also have consistency to build trust and reliability. Maintain open and transparent communication with our customers. We have to be responsive to their inquiries, feedback, and concerns. We also use multiple channels of communication such as email, social media, or chat to stay connected with your customers. and last but not the least, centricity. We always put our customers at the center of everything we do. We make sure to focus on delivering a great customer experience by providing excellent customer service, personalization, and customization. I think this is the key in building loyalty and a positive reputation for FitnessAtYourDoor.

Q 20. What is your favorite aspect of being an entrepreneur?

Ans: One of the best things about being an entrepreneur is having the freedom and autonomy to pursue your own vision and create something of value. As an entrepreneur myself, I have the opportunity to be my own boss and make my own decisions about the direction of my business. I can choose the type of work I do, the clients I work with, and the products or services I offer. This level of freedom and control can be incredibly empowering and rewarding. It allows me to take ownership of my career and make a meaningful impact in the fitness industry and in the community.

Q 21. What has been your most satisfying moment in business?

Ans: My most satisfying moments in business have been those in which I have seen the tangible impact of our work on the lives of our clients and trainers. It is a powerful reminder of why I do what I do, and it drives me to continue working hard to help more people achieve their fitness and wellness goals.

Q 22. What do you feel is the major difference between entrepreneurs and those who work for someone else?

Ans: The major difference between entrepreneurs and those who work for someone else is that entrepreneurs take on the risk and responsibility of starting and running their own business, while employees work for an established organization and have a more defined role within that organization.

Another key difference is the level of autonomy and decision-making power. Entrepreneurs have the freedom to make their own decisions about the direction of their business, while employees typically work within the framework and guidelines set by their employer.

Q 23. What kind of culture exists in your organization? How did you establish this tone and why did you institute this particular type of culture?

Ans: This may sound cliche but I always try to create a positive work culture in our company. I do this through open communication because I believe that everyone deserves to be heard. Empowering employees to make decisions and take ownership of their work is also very important because it can foster a sense of pride and ownership in their jobs. Providing flexibility in terms of work schedule, remote work, and other work arrangements can help employees maintain a healthy work-life balance and increase job satisfaction. Another important thing is creating a workplace culture that values and respects diversity and inclusion. Basically a safe and inclusive workspace.

Q 24. In one word, characterize your life as an entrepreneur.

Ans: I’d say, ‘CHALLENGING’. I do face numerous challenges in my business on a daily basis. However, despite these challenges, I still find my work to be fulfilling and rewarding, as I have the opportunity to pursue my passions, create something of value, and make a positive impact in the fitness community.

Q 25. If you had the chance to start your career over again, what would you do differently?

Ans: I might have focused more on developing my business skills earlier on. This could involve seeking out mentors and educational resources to help me learn the ins and outs of running a successful fitness coaching business.

Additionally, I might have taken more calculated risks earlier in my career. I should have prioritized building a strong team of employees earlier. Because I believe that successful business relies on the contributions of a skilled and dedicated team.

Q 26. How has being an entrepreneur affected your family life?

Ans: As an engaged entrepreneur, I set clear boundaries and prioritize my time to ensure that I am present and engaged in both my personal and professional life. I schedule work commitments around important personal events such as wedding planning or family gatherings. Additionally, the success of my business can provide financial stability and opportunities for my personal life, which is a source of pride and satisfaction for both my business and loved ones.

Q 27. What is your greatest fear, and how do you manage fear?

Ans: My greatest fear is becoming stagnant and not being willing to adapt to changes in the fitness industry. As a fitness entrepreneur, I understand that the industry is constantly evolving, and staying ahead of the curve is crucial to my success.

To manage this fear, I focus on staying informed and continuously learning about new fitness trends, techniques, and technologies. I also make it a priority to surround myself with a team of experts who are passionate and knowledgeable about the industry. This helps me to remain agile and adaptable to change, and to ensure that my business, Fitness At Your Door, is always offering the latest and most effective fitness solutions to our clients.

Q 28. How did you decide on the location for your business?

Ans: We don’t have a brick and mortar location for our fitness business. Instead, we work out of a co-working space at the Alan B. Levan Center. We chose this location because it offers a professional environment for our team to work and train clients, as well as access to networking and collaboration opportunities with other entrepreneurs and businesses in the area. Additionally, the location is convenient and easily accessible for our clients, which is important for our business.

Q 29. Do you believe there is some sort of pattern or formula to becoming a successful entrepreneur?

Ans: I believe that there is no single formula or pattern to becoming successful. Every entrepreneur’s journey is unique, and success can come from a variety of factors, including hard work, determination, innovation, resilience, and even luck. However, I do believe that certain principles, such as having a clear vision, identifying and solving a problem in the market, building a strong team, and constantly learning and adapting, can greatly increase an entrepreneur’s chances of success. Ultimately, success as an entrepreneur comes down to being able to navigate and overcome the challenges that inevitably arise along the way.

Q 30. If you could talk to one person from history, who would it be and why?

Ans: If I had the opportunity to talk to one person from history, I would choose Jack LaLanne. He was a pioneer in the fitness industry and is widely regarded as the “godfather of fitness.” I would love to pick his brain about his early years in the industry, his philosophies on health and fitness, and his experience in motivating and inspiring others to lead a healthy lifestyle. He was also known for his innovative approach to exercise and his dedication to spreading the message of fitness to the masses. His passion and drive are qualities that I admire and strive to emulate in my own career as a fitness coach.

Q 31. Who has been your greatest inspiration?

Ans: My greatest inspiration has always been my clients. Seeing the positive changes in their physical wellness and knowing that I had a part in helping them achieve their goals is truly rewarding. Each client has their own unique story, struggles, and triumphs, and it’s truly humbling to be a part of their journey towards better health and fitness. Their dedication, hard work, and perseverance inspire me to be a better coach and person every day. Knowing that I can make a positive impact on their lives is what keeps me motivated and driven to continue growing and improving as a fitness professional.

Q 32. What book has inspired you the most? (OR what is your favorite book?)

Ans: I am deeply interested in fitness and wellness, and a book that has inspired me the most is “Bigger Leaner Stronger” by Michael Matthews. This book has helped me understand the science behind muscle building and fat loss, and provided me with practical tips and techniques to achieve my fitness goals. Matthews’ approach to fitness is evidence-based and focuses on the principles of progressive overload, proper nutrition, and consistent training. I have used these principles in my own fitness journey and have also shared them with my clients to help them achieve their own fitness goals.

Q 33. What are some of the biggest mistakes you’ve made?

Ans: One of the biggest mistakes I made was not being clear about my target market when I first started my fitness business. I tried to appeal to everyone, which resulted in diluted messaging and ineffective marketing. It was only after I did some research and identified my ideal clients that I was able to tailor my offerings and messaging to better resonate with them.

Another mistake I made was not delegating tasks and trying to do everything myself. This resulted in burnout and a lack of productivity. It was only after I started delegating tasks and hiring a team that I was able to focus on the things I do best and scale my business.

Q 34. How can you prevent mistakes or do damage control?

Ans: Prevention is always better than cure. To prevent mistakes or do damage control, I take a proactive approach in ensuring that my clients are performing exercises with proper form and technique. This helps to prevent injuries and ensures that they are maximizing their workouts.

In case there are any mistakes or issues that arise, I am quick to address them and make the necessary adjustments to prevent any further damage. This includes providing modifications for exercises or correcting any improper form. Additionally, I always emphasize the importance of listening to your body and taking rest when necessary to avoid injury.

Q 35. What are your hobbies? What do you do in your non-work time?

Ans: I enjoy staying active and healthy, so my hobbies often revolve around fitness and sports. Q 37. What sacrifices have you had to make to be a successful entrepreneur?

Ans: I have had to make several sacrifices to ensure the success of my business. One of the biggest sacrifices I have made is my personal time. Running a business requires a lot of dedication and hard work, which often means that I have to work long hours and sacrifice time with my family and friends. I also had to sacrifice financial stability, as starting a business often means taking on financial risk and uncertainty. Additionally, I have had to sacrifice job security, as being an entrepreneur means that I don’t have the same stability as someone who works for a traditional employer. Despite these sacrifices, I believe that the rewards of being a successful entrepreneur far outweigh the challenges and sacrifices that come with it.

Q 38. If you were conducting this interview, what question would you ask?
