Q 1. Kindly give our readers an introduction to your business. Please include what your business is all about.
Ans: Ginnis & Krathen is a boutique law firm. Basically, that means we focus on client contact, compassion and maximizing client recovery. About 90% of new cases actually come from happy past clients and attorneys who know our reputation.
Q 2. What inspired you to (start a new business venture) or (to make significant changes in an existing business)? How did the idea for your business come about?
Ans: We saw the way some other law firms were treating their clients. We realized that our business model of client contact, compassion and maximizing recovery would fill a niche in the field of personal injury and wrongful death litigation.
Q 3. What three pieces of advice would you give to budding entrepreneurs?
Ans: My best advice would be to work harder than everyone else, work smarter than everyone else, and above all, to love what you do.
Q 4. What would you say are the top three skills needed to be a successful entrepreneur?
Ans: Confidence, compassion and bravery to speak on behalf of those who are unable to speak for themselves.
Q 5. How many hours do you work a day on average?
Ans: On an average day, I work about 14 hours per day.
Q 6. To what do you most attribute your success?
Ans: Being available to my clients is something that really
sets our firm apart.
Q 7. How do you go about marketing your business? What has been your most successful form of marketing?
Ans: Word of mouth has been our most valuable tool for marketing our business. We place a high priority on serving our current clients well, and in return, they tell their friends, family members, and coworkers about or service.
Q 8. Where did your organization’s funding/capital come from and how did you go about getting it? How did you obtain investors for your venture?
Ans: I have invested a significant amount of personal capital in Ginnis & Krathen, P.A. We’ve also built relationships with financial institutions to make sure there is no shortage of resources, regardless of the amount of investment required for a case.
Q 9. What is the best way to achieve long-term success?
Ans: As you begin to make headway, make sure you are reinvesting back into your company. It makes for happy clients, satisfied staff, and a better working environment all around.
Q 10. Where you see yourself and your business in 5 – 10 years?
Ans: We will always remain a boutique firm, but we do plan to grow by very selectively handpicking our attorneys and staff.
Q 11. Excluding yours, what company or business do you admire the most?
Ans: I really admire the law firm of Krupnick and Campbell.
Q 12. How important have good employees been to your success?
Ans: I cannot stress enough how important it is to have a great team.
Q 13. How long do you stick with an idea before giving up?
Ans: Until it wakes me up in the middle of the night and I find a solution. You have to be dedicated to finding a solution no matter how long it takes.
Q 14. What motivates you?
Ans: By far, my biggest motivation is my family.
Q 15. What are your ideals?
Ans: These are the words I try to live by: Treat me right and I’ll treat you better.
Q 16. How do you generate new ideas?
Ans: They say that necessity is the mother of invention, and that is so true. It’s that need to find a solution to a problem that forces us to think outside the box and find the best answer.
Q 17. How do you build a successful customer base?
Ans: Word of mouth, like I mentioned before, is the best way to get our name into the community and in front of potential future clients. If our clients are consistently happy, more will come.
Q 18. What is your favorite aspect of being an entrepreneur?
Ans: Working for myself is a big plus, and creating something that allows my staff to support and take care of their families is another major component that I’m very proud of.
Q 19. What has been your most satisfying moment in business?
Ans: It always means a lot when a family member of a lost loved one calls and places their trust and confidence in me and my firm.
Q 20. What do you feel is the major difference between entrepreneurs and those who work for someone else?
Ans: Both are essential members of the team. Without one you can’t have the other.
Q 21. In one word, characterize your life as an entrepreneur.
Ans: Available.
Q 22. If you had the chance to start your career over again, what would you do differently?
Ans: I wouldn’t change a thing. I am very happy with the course my career has taken, and I wouldn’t change that story one bit.
