For over three decades, Southside Wrecker has provided emergency services, light and heavy towing, accident recovery, and rotator services. Not only are we there in emergencies, but we also work behind the scenes in the film industry, construction sites, and airlines/airports to meet their goals daily. Whether a stunt car needs to be placed or a broken crane needs to be hauled off site, our team can handle the task with professionalism and excellence. With two convenient locations in Union City and Newnan, Georgia, our fleet of roughly thirty vehicles regularly services metro Atlanta and anywhere else a customer needs us.
- Give us a brief description about yourself, including your brief educational or entrepreneurial background and some of your major achievements.
We are proud partners with Allsouth Emergency First Response, where we do the heavy lifting with recovery support and emergency spill response for truck wrecks. Currently, we transport machinery and equipment, and perform accident recovery for GDOT, GSP, and local police departments. On the front lines of service, our heavy-duty quick clearance team was the first in Georgia to be certified by the Department of Transportation.
- What inspired you to (start a new business venture) or (to make significant changes in an existing business)? How did the idea for your business come about?
We’ve been co-owners of Southside Wrecker Service since 2008. The previous owner reached out and recruited us around 2003.
- What three pieces of advice would you give to budding entrepreneurs?
Know your costs. Focus on being the best, not the cheapest. Don’t let the 24/7 schedule consume your life, and remember to have fun and enjoy the fruits of your hard labor.
- What would you say are the top three skills needed to be a successful entrepreneur?
Have a deep understanding of your business, focus on being the best, and have fun.
- How many hours do you work a day on average?
We’re open and available 24/7, 365 days a year!
- To what do you most attribute your success?
We have over 30 years of experience with a focus on Heavy Recovery and Rotator Lifting.
- How do you go about marketing your business? What has been your most successful form of marketing?
We partner with an agency, Harbinger Marketing, and have focused on local SEO and advertising. The best marketing is making sure our customers are taken care of. They happily tell others about our service!
- Where did your organization’s funding/capital come from and how did you go about getting it? How did you obtain investors for your venture?
We’re the second owners of the business.
- What is the best way to achieve long-term success?
Focusing on the importance of all the employees who helped you get there.
- Where do you see yourself and your business in 5 – 10 years?
Hopefully, on a mountain or a lake back up in Vermont! The business will still be growing and providing the safest, highest level of service possible.
- Excluding yours, what company or business do you admire the most?
One doesn’t stand out specifically but we enjoy seeing any business with down-to-earth owners and management and employees who are happy to come to work and proud of what they are doing.

Our employees’ success means we’re successful. Nothing is better than seeing employees who have come from other companies and attribute their first home or new car purchase to the success they have found at Southside.

We work hard to maintain a culture of “co-workers,” meaning we all interact as a team. On a day-to-day basis, we all work together for the common goals of being safe and providing high-quality services to our customers. That takes everyone, not just management, not just the office staff, not just the drivers.
