Interview with the owner of The Way Martial Arts – Unleash Your Potential with Kickboxing and Self Defense

1 – Q) Kindly give our readers an introduction to your business. Please include what your business is all about, in which city you are located and if you have offices in multiple locations/ cities.

A) The Way Martial Artsis a world-class martial arts academy in a state-art-facility located in Lantana, FL. The Way have highly accomplish instructors with the accolades such as world champions and even a active UFC Fighter as founder and head coach Herbert Burns.

2 – Q) Kindly give us a brief description about yourself (it should include your brief educational or entrepreneurial background and list some of your major achievements).

A) I’m Herbert Burns a Brazilian born martial artist, I started martial arts at 5 years old with Karate, and I started BJJ at 11 years old. I acomplish a lots of major titles in BJJ such as NoGi BJJ World Champion, 2x Brazilian National NoGi Champion, American National NoGi Champion, and Pan Asian Absolute Champion. In 2013 I’ve made my transition to MMA and now I do fight under the UFC banner the most prestigious MMA promotion in the world.

3 – Q) What inspired you to (start a new business venture) or (to make significant changes in an existing business)? How did the idea for your business come about?

A) I had experience with teaching in Brazil, Singapore, Sweden, Thailand, and teaching is something that I always enjoyed, could be a normal person growing confidence and improving in and out of the mats or a professional fighter who need to improve their BJJ skills. For me, most things when divide their get smaller, but knowledge and love they do the opposite, they grow and this what inspired to open The Way to help the community to grow in confidence and self defense skills.

4 – Q) What three pieces of advice would you give to budding entrepreneurs?

A) Three good advices to build an enterpreuneurs, the first advice is perseverance to never give up in your dream, the second advice is make a proper plan with a strong fundation, and the third advice is to be proactive go for it, do not comtemplate, action is what makes things happen.

5 – Q) What would you say are the top three skills needed to be a successful entrepreneur?

A) Perseverance, open minded, and a continuos self improvment.

6 – Q) How many hours do you work a day on average?

A) I would say around 11h, 12h, MMA training, teaching classes, plus my enterpreneur business hours, my day doesnt stop.

7 – Q) To what do you most attribute your success?

A) I believe is my work ethic, and perseverance, obstacles will be thrown on my way, but I work around then, and find a way to make things work.

8 – Q) How do you go about marketing your business? What has been your most successful form of marketing?

A) Google ads and search for me are the most effective way to market a business, of course you need to have a strong business model as well.

9 – Q) Where did your organizations funding/capital come from and how did you go about getting it? How did you obtain investors for your venture?

A) I saved from my fighting carrer and I have a business partner with exprecience in other types of business besides martial arts, and we do make a great team.

10 – Q) What is the best way to achieve long-term success?

A) Get to top is not the hardest thing, staying at the top it is. I believe satying vilgilante will definily help with a long-term succes and a continuos self improvment atitude, be happy with what you have, but always strive for more.

11 – Q) Where you see yourself and your business in 5 – 10 years?

A) I see myself as a UFC champion, and in the business side I see The Way opening at least one more location, and as the home for martial arts in Palm Beach County.

12 – Q) Excluding yours, what company or business do you admire the most?

A) The UFC is great company they have grown so much in the last 10 years and they help to put MMA out of the underground into a prime sport.
