A. Pro Service Mechanical Ltd. (incorporated in 2008) provides Residential and Commercial Mechanical Contractor services in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan Canada and the immediate surrounding area. The services provided include Plumbing, Heating, Air Conditioning and Ventilation. The scope of work includes field service, maintenance and installation.

Q. Kindly give us a brief description about yourself (it should include your brief educational or entrepreneurial background and list some of your major achievements).

A. Mark Wanner, the owner of Pro Service Mechanical Ltd. started this company in from his home. In 2008 he incorporated the company. Mark received his journeyperson refrigeration mechanic licensed in Saskatchewan, Canada in. All service technicians are either licensed journeyperson’s or indentured apprentices.

Q. What inspired you to (start a new business venture) or (to make significant changes in an existing business)? How did the idea for your business come about?

A. After working in the commercial mechanical industry for several years, Mark decided he had achieved enough experience to be his own boss.

Q. What three pieces of advice would you give to budding entrepreneurs?

A. a. Develop marketing strategies that serves the best interest of your customers. This should also include sales training for all of field service technicians to facilitate increased profit while providing customers with valued options.

b. Have strategies in place to raise future capital to grow the company.

c. Develop a company culture where you and your employees know what to expect from each other. This may include and open-door policy, enhanced training, problem solving, or an ongoing performance metric/measurement system, etc.

Q. What would you say are the top three skills needed to be a successful entrepreneur?

A. Managing financials, employees and the unforeseen.

Q. How do you go about marketing your business? What has been your most successful form of marketing?

A. Currently we are using digital marketing (Google Adwords and Social Media Ads).

Q. Where did your organizations funding/capital come from and how did you go about getting it? How did you obtain investors for your venture?

A. Pro Service is a family funded company. Capital project funding is facilitated through financial lending institutions.

Q. What is the best way to achieve long-term success?

A. To provide honest & fair value to your customers. To maintain direct customer communication to facilitate their issues and concerns. To have a daily employee communication strategy so everyone is working together.
