1 – Q) Kindly give our readers an introduction to your business. Please include what your business is all about, in which city you are located and if you have offices in multiple locations/ cities.

A) AustinMD Aesthetics & Wellness is a patient-centered functional medicine and medical aesthetics clinic located in Cedar Park, Texas. Our practice combines integrative and functional medicine with advanced aesthetic treatments and wellness services to help patients both look and feel their best. We offer a range of services including functional medicine, IV therapy, bio-identical hormone replacement, athletic performance optimization, hair restoration, and medical aesthetic procedures like injectables, fillers, and skin rejuvenation. Our mission is to identify and treat the root causes of health issues while tailoring treatment plans to each individual’s goals and lifestyle.

2 – Q) Kindly give us a brief description about yourself (it should include your brief educational or entrepreneurial background and list some of your major achievements).

A) I am Dr. Kausik Roy, MD, a board-certified internal medicine physician practicing in Cedar Park for over a decade. I specialize in integrative or Functional Medicine, helping my patients optimize gut health and nutrient levels, balance hormones, and test & treat mold to help minimize systemic inflammation and allow the body to return to a well-balanced state and function at its best. My education and medical training have been devoted to understanding not only disease management but also preventive health and lifestyle medicine. I am affiliated with the American Board of Internal Medicine, Institute of Functional Medicine, and other professional associations. My achievements include developing a multidisciplinary approach that blends conventional and alternative medicine for best results. I also lead the aesthetics department at AustinMD with the assistance of our experienced nurse injector who is trained and well versed in many of the anti-aging procedures we offer.

3 – Q) What inspired you to (start a new business venture) or (to make significant changes in an existing business)? How did the idea for your business come about?

A) My inspiration came from a personal and professional realization: As I suffered a life changing health event, I realized that traditional medicine often treats symptoms rather than solving underlying cause. After witnessing countless patients struggle with chronic conditions that could be addressed through lifestyle modifications, hormone balance, preventative holistic care, I wanted to create a practice that goes deeper than symptom management. Functional medicine offered a way to empower patients to achieve long-term wellness and longevity rather than temporary relief.

4 – Q) What three pieces of advice would you give to budding entrepreneurs?

A)   1. Stay patient-focused — in healthcare, outcomes matter more than quick wins.

2. Invest in education and innovation — ongoing learning is essential in dynamic fields like medicine and wellness.

3. Build a team that complements your strengths — the right collaborators amplify your impact.

5 – Q) What would you say are the top three skills needed to be a successful entrepreneur?

A)   1. Resilience — to navigate challenges and setbacks.

2. Vision — to see opportunities where others see obstacles.

3. Effective communication — to inspire your team and your patients.

6– Q) How many hours do you work a day on average?

A) Entrepreneurship and medical practice require dedication — typically I work 10–12 hours a day, balancing clinical care, strategy, and team leadership.

7 – Q) To what do you most attribute your success?

A) I attribute my success to a relentless focus on patient outcomes, continuous learning, and the support of an exceptional team that brings compassion and expertise to every interaction.

8 – Q) How do you go about marketing your business? What has been your most successful form of marketing?

A) We use a multi-channel approach: digital marketing (SEO/AEO, website content, blogs, social media), patient education, community events, and online reviews. Our most successful marketing has been educational content that helps people understand how functional medicine and aesthetics can improve their quality of life.

9 – Q) Where did your organization’s funding/capital come from and how did you go about getting it? How did you obtain investors for your venture?

A) The practice was initially self-funded and grown organically through reinvesting clinic earnings. Relationships with patients and a strong local reputation helped sustain growth rather than external investors.

10– Q) What is the best way to achieve long-term success?

A) Consistent focus on value creation, meaningful patient relationships, and adapting to the evolving needs of the healthcare and wellness landscape.

11 – Q) Where do you see yourself and your business in 5 – 10 years?

A) We aim to expand our services regionally, further integrate advanced diagnostics and personalized medicine, and continue refining our patient-centered model to serve more individuals seeking holistic health solutions.

12 – Q) Excluding yours, what company or business do you admire the most?

A) I admire organizations that redefine their industries through innovation and integrity — especially those that put customer well-being at the core of their mission.

13 – Q) How important have good employees been to your success?

A) Excellent team members are essential; they help deliver high-quality care and uphold our practice values.

14 – Q) How long do you stick with an idea before giving up?

A) I believe in testing ideas thoughtfully and giving them enough time to prove their value. If an idea aligns with our mission and benefits patients, I refine and adapt it rather than abandon it too quickly. Data, feedback, and outcomes guide when to pivot.

15 – Q) What motivates you?

A) Seeing patients regain energy, confidence, and health motivates me daily.

16 – Q) What are your ideals?

A) Creating solutions that help people feel better physically, mentally, and emotionally.

17 – Q) How do you generate new ideas?

A) New ideas come from listening closely to patients, staying current with medical research, attending industry conferences, and continuously evaluating gaps in traditional healthcare. Real patient needs often inspire the most meaningful innovations.

18 – Q) How do you define success?

A) Success is improving someone’s health and quality of life in a meaningful, lasting way.

19 – Q) How do you build a successful customer base?

A) By building trust first. We focus on education, transparency, and personalized care. When patients feel heard, supported, and see real results, they naturally become long-term patients and advocates for our practice.

20 – Q) What is your favorite aspect of being an entrepreneur?

A) The ability to create meaningful change—both in how healthcare is delivered and in the lives of patients—while continuously learning and evolving.

21 – Q) What has been your most satisfying moment in business?

A) Seeing patients who once struggled with chronic issues regain their health, confidence, and quality of life—and knowing our approach made a lasting difference.

22 – Q) What do you feel is the major difference between entrepreneurs and those who work for someone else?

A) Entrepreneurs take full ownership of both success and failure. They are willing to take calculated risks, adapt quickly, and think long-term rather than focusing only on short-term outcomes.

23 – Q) What kind of culture exists in your organization? How did you establish this tone and why did you institute this particular type of culture?

A) Our culture is collaborative, patient-focused, and rooted in continuous improvement. We prioritize empathy, education, and accountability. This tone was established intentionally to ensure that both patients and team members feel respected, supported, and motivated to deliver their best work.

24 – Q) In one word, characterize your life as an entrepreneur.

A) Purposeful.
